A lot of shuffling in the USA Today coaches’ poll this week ended up with Missouri dropping from 21st to 23rd despite a win at Nevada on Friday night.

Missouri’s next opponent, Nebraska, is 24th. The Tigers and Cornhuskers play on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Columbia.

Iowa and Michigan were the two teams to jump over the Tigers.

Florida, Texas and Alabama stayed 1-2-3.

Other Big 12 teams: Oklahoma at No. 8, Oklahoma State at No. 12, and Kansas at No. 16.

Missouri is still sitting outside the AP top 25. Nebraska is 23 in AP.

Here’s a side-by-side look at this week’s polls.

I have said this many times before, the only way that Mizzou can get any respect is to beat Texas, O.U., The Huskers and Okie State in the same year!

I agree with rams1263, but Mizzou needs to beef up their non-conference schedule as well. If you want to be in the BCS hunt, you have to play the top 25, not patsies like BG or Furman.

Rich, it isn’t Mizzou’s fault that Illinois consistently underachieves and our annual beatdown of them lacks luster. I guess the bright side is they definitely won’t be chanting ‘BCS’ at the basketball game this year.

I assume you are joking Rich. ALL of the teams that are “in the BCS hunt” play bad teams too. Have you seen Florida’s non-conference this year. Illinois, WAC, MAC, and FCS isn’t that much worse than 95% of the teams out there….including the national powers.

I do not agree with beefing up the schedule. Our schedule is fine. We play in a “BCS CONFERENCE.” If we go undefeated, we have a shot at the National Title. The better our record looks at the end of the season, the better bowls we go to. We don’t have to play big-name teams during the non-conference schedule, we play enough during conference play (2 top 10, 4 top 25). Smart move by the Tigers to schedule the patsies…

Can Mizzou schedule the Rams and Chiefs for two easy non conference W’s?

There shouldn’t BE a published poll until after week 6 - everything before that is fluff; wait for 6 games and you’ll have an idea of who is good and who isn’t.
