Tigers ranked 25th by AP
The Tigers jumped to 25th in the first regular-season AP poll on the strength of their 37-9 win over the Illini on Saturday.
They are one spot behind Kansas and three behind Nebraska, which comes to Columbia for a Thursday night ESPN showdown on Oct. 8.
In the USA Today coaches’ poll, Missouri was 27th overall.

I’ll be shocked if either Nebraska or Kansas finish above the Missouri team that we saw this past weekend. I still think Kansas is over-hyped, and Nebraska will have to show something on the field to reverse the tailspin they’ve been in the last few years.
Polls are idiotic.
Yes, Mr. Bunuel, the polls are idiotic. Note Ohio State’s lofty #8 ranking after taking a beating amidships. Bring on the J-Hoax and Lil’ Red (who’s probably a lil’ worried)…
It looks like Mizzou actually has a chance to beat Oklahoma for once with Sam Bradford out. lol
The College Football News website jumped Mizzou to No 8 this week and explains how they justified it.

As a Mizzou student I am surprised that we cracked the top 25. To me the victory was more of Illinois not being ready for Saturday. I hope that this does not make our players think our squad is better than it really is.
I’m not sure Mizzou can even win the Big 12 South. Let’s see if you can beat a top 25 team.
Here is how bad this first poll is. Miami amd Florida State played a game last night that was the best and closest thing to a championship game. Yes, Florida State lost on the last series, but either team could have ended up a winner. Why would Oklahoma still be in the top 20? Even when Bradford was in during the first half, he looked a long way from his Heisman ways of a year ago. The team only played well on defense. Miami wins a great game and they are #20 and OKIE IS #13??? Let the college season begin!!!
If Mizzou continues to improve as their schedule advances they will have a lot of teams worrying. Blaine Gabbert looks to be the real deal and I hope he continues to show people how good he really is and can be. He reminded me of watching Tim Tebow in the game Saturday. Illinois might not have been their best, but they were beat by a superior team who simply outplayed them at every level.
Go TIGERS!!!
