Mizzou picked seventh in Big 12 basketball
Mizzou was picked to finish seventh in Big 12 basketball this season in the annual coaches preseason poll. Last year’s team was also picked to finish seventh and went on to win the Big 12 tournament and reach the NCAA’s final eight.
Here’s how the coaches forecast the league:
Team (First Place Votes) Points
Kansas (11) 121
Texas (1) 111
Oklahoma 95
Kansas State 92
Texas A&M 74
Oklahoma State 69
Missouri 66
Iowa State 57
Texas Tech 34
Baylor 33
Nebraska 38
Colorado 13
Mizzou ended last season with a school-record 31 victories and a No. 9 national ranking after a loss to UConn in the West Regional final. The lack of respect in the preseason poll probably owes to the fact that last season’s top three scorers — DeMarre Carroll, Leo Lyons and Matt Lawrence — all graduated.
Missouri will build around four experienced guards this season: seniors J.T. Tiller and Zaire Taylor, and sophomores Kim English and Marcus Denmon. Up front, the Tigers must rely on senior Keith Ramsey, junior Justin Safford and sophomore Laurence Bowers.
God Bless CMA and this tiger hoops team. We will be dancing again and will finish in front of A&M, Kstate, and Okie St.
