Standout from Bootheel commits to Mizzou
New Madrid County Central’s Kony Ealy, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 3 recruit in the state, committed today to play for the Tigers, according to PowerMizzou.com and the Columbia Tribune.
Ealy is 6-foot-5, 230 pounds and rated No. 11 nationally among weakside defensive ends.
According to the Tribune, he chose Mizzou over Nebraska, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Michigan. The Tribune quoted Ealy’s coach, Arlen PIxley, as saying Ealy won’t make any official recruiting visits except a trip to Columbia late this year.
Mizzou has 15 verbals for 2010, including a commitment from the state’s top-ranked recruit, Timberland High lineman Nick Demien.
This is great news!!!!
Keep them comiing Coach P!!!!!
Where is #2 in the state going?
I hope we can keep this momentum rolling along.
Great news.
But lets not forget for every 4 start recruit there is a Brock Olivio, Tommy Sanders, Brandon Gerau and that unknown kid that works his tail off to make the team.
Just ask Andy Hill our recievers Coach, he was to small, not fast enough, other coaches said he did not have the heart, but…..he walked on to Warren Powers Missouri tigers team and was great. Stars? The only stars these guys got was scars, but I would take an entire team of such guys anyday.

Ealy is legit. Athletic (mid-major basketball prospect) and very physical. Gets to ball carriers fast and arrives in a very bad mood. Bootheel kids have done well in Columbia last few years–William Moore, Jimmy Jackson, Charles Gaines, Brandon Barnes. Ealy has a chance to make a substantial contribution himself.

Has anyone heard whether or not Sheldon Richardson is doing OK at whatever JuCo he’s attending? He’s the 5 star d-lineman that was ineligible for this season b/c of his HS grades. Is he still committed to transferring to MU as he originally had planned?
The athletic end also played receiver on offense and caught four passes in New Madrid’s run-oriented offense, including one in the sectional win. … But defense was his forte and had 11.5 sacks — second in the area behind only teammate L.T. Sutton — among his 69 tackles for the Class 3 state quarterfinalist.
