I have a bad feeling.
I usually don’t say that, so it’s probably not a good thing. You know, after Missouri lost to Texas A&M, there was this fire. There was this anger, and I was totally sure that the Tigers were going to come out and hammer Kansas State.
This week? Not so sure.
There were a lot of guys talking about not trying to win. Instead, the players are telling each other to just concentrate on playing well and the wins will come. Now, I understand the theory behind this. But at the same time, I don’t like the attitude. It almost came off as defeatist.
The Tigers can take solace in the fact that during each of their losses, they were within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. But to get over that one-touchdown deficit, Missouri is going to have to play to win, not play to play well.
Lincoln is a tough place to play. No doubt about that. Probably not as tough as Kyle Field, but pretty close. This is what, the third time in four years that the Tigers have had a Big 12 North title in front of them? And how many times have they capitalized on those opportunities? None. Last year, similar situation, the Tigers went out to Boulder and got clobbered by Colorado. I had the same feelings prior to that game as I do now.
We’ll see if Missouri proves me wrong.
