Point guard Dixon picks Mizzou
Lee’s Summit West point guard Mike Dixon had attracted scholarship offers from coast to coast and from some of the top basketball schools in the country, but in the end he decided to stay home.
That was important for Dixon, so on Wednesday night he called University of Missouri coach Mike Anderson and gave him a verbal commitment.
Dixon, who selected the Tigers over Arizona, California and Purdue, said his relationship with Anderson was another major factor in his decision.
“I’ve had a good relationship with him for a good two years now,” Dixon said. “It was so good, sometimes we wouldn’t even be talking about basketball. I felt really comfortable with him.”
Scout.com ranks the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Dixon as the 94th-best prospect in his class, and the 11th point guard among his peers, while Rivals.com ranks him as the 100th-best in his class.
