Two more Big 12 teams set for bowls; still Fiesta or Alamo for Missouri
Two Big 12 bowls became official today at the Gator got the go-ahead to invite Nebraska and the Insight will make it official with Kansas.
Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe had wanted the league to wait until after the Missouri-Oklahoma game for the conference title on Saturday before letting teams accept bids.
But as the Florida Times Union reports, the Gator has the green light for Nebraska. The Insight Bowl will make it official for Kansas later today.
Those moves reinforce the scenario that Missouri will either be in the Fiesta (beating Oklahoma) or the Alamo (with a loss to OU.)
The Big 12 bowl selection process: after the BCS games make their selections (the Big 12 title winner as automatic and Texas as an at-large) it will go like this:
Cotton: Texas Tech.
Holiday: Oklahoma State. Cowboys still getting the edge over Missouri because of head-to-head win.
Gator: Nebraska.
Alamo: Missouri
Insight: Kansas
That’s it for bowl-eligible teams from Big 12.
And yet another year where if all else fails go against Missouri. Why is it that we beat Nebraska, in Nebraska, and soundly yet we are picked behind them? Is it because of the history of Nebraska in the Gator Bowl? Would that be because it is a losing history? I’m just confused about this.
