Cardinals Interested In Nelly?
We’re not sure Bill DeWitt can pay Nelly enough to set music aside for the rest of the summer. And we’re sure the St. Louisan wants to move from center field to left, since Colby Rasmus seems entrenched for the Cardinals.
But it’s a thought, anyway, in the wake of Nelly’s stellar celebrity game performance. His play contrasted sharply from the play of Rick Ankiel and Chris Duncan up in Chicago this weekend.
Nelly has the glove and the bat to dominate at the celebrity level. He may need a little time to adapt to the big league level, but he’s got some tools.
Nelly and former college basketball coach Bob Knight – a first baseman in this game – shared the game MVP honors.
“Coach Bob Knight, he can handle himself over there at first base,” Nelly told reporters afterward.
In turn, Knight admired Nelly’s diving catch. “He made that first play,” Knight said, “and I said, ‘That guy knows what he’s doing out there.’”
St. Louisas have had a good with the event and everything else All-Star related this weekend.
