National League loses, again

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina did his part for the National League tonight.

His RBI single in the second inning triggered a three-run NL rally. That surge erased the 2-0 American League lead and gave the home team hope of FINALLY winning an All-Star Game.

Could the NL finally end its streak of futility? Could it win for the first time since 1996?

Not quite.

The NL never scored again. The team mustered just five hits all night in the 4-3 loss.

Albert Pujols went 0-for-3 in his own stadium. His first-inning error led to two AL runs.

Our Town’s Ryan Howard came up with runners at second and third in the eighth inning, but he struck out to strand them.

That’s the way this game went. Outfielder Brad Hawpe tried to give the NL the lead in the 7th with an opposite field homer, but Carl Crawford went up and took it away.

So the National League has a 13-game winless streak in this game. The American League will be the host city for the World Series, again.

Don’t mind the loss but the fact that this game decides world series home field advantage is terrible Impeach Bud Selig.

Can we get a do over?

NL loses again…HOW?!?

a semi decent pitcher for an awful team loses it (curse of the Padres?)

and Stan get no attention, barley a mention all game and a second rate “tribute”

pretty much a complete disaster all around.
the homerun derby stunk too.

at least we saw the president and the softball game was fun…

all and all it was a disgrace and we wont see one for another 40 years at least.

oh, and Stan will be long dead before he gets any respect (if ever)

It was Albert’s game to win, and he lost it, at the plate and in the field.

That’s just stupid. It wasn’t just Albert’s game to win or lose. Baseball requires a whole team of 9 players on the field, remember? What a lame thing to say. Albert made some outstanding plays after that first one that was complicated by having a baserunner in the way and the AL made some great plays on a couple of hard-hit liners from Albert and on Hawpe’s HR that wasn’t. Reminded me of Endy Chavez stealing the HR away from Scott Rolen (though not quite as impressive).

The National League just can’t buy a win. Four straight one run losses? Even that infamous 2002 tie would have been an NL win if Torii Hunter didn’t rob Barry Bonds. This is becoming too similar to Mizzou-Nebraska football circa 1980’s-’90’s.

The National League has not won an All-Star Game since before there was interleague play in the regular season.

The game was kind of boring and the host league lost. Bummer, but aren’t most All Star games this way. Please stop whining about Stan not getting his due. He was recognized on a national stage and got to shake hands with another president. I bet Stan isn’t whining this morning because that’s the kind of person he is. The best thing about last night’s game was in the 3rd row behind the catcher, the beautiful blonde with the HUGE knockers!
