Will Albert Get Something To Hit?

Dave McKay wasn’t available to pitch to Albert Pujols tonight. That was not good news for Albert, since McKay knows how to feed the beast.

He ended up with Pirates bullpen coach Luis Dorante.

Albert didn’t lock in during his prelim event, trying to contestant Mark Weinberger a prize package by hitting a “called shot.” He never got a pitch he liked and finally popped up a couple of offerings.

Dorante managed the winter league team Albert hoped to play for to prepare for the World Baseball Classic. Pujols never played, though, due to elbow surgery.

Nelson Cruz got the night off to a good start, crushing 11 homers in his first round — including a couple of epic blasts.

Prince Fielder lifted some epic shots to the deep part of the park — including a 497-foot moon shot. He, too, finished with 11.

Yikes! Brandon Inge got blanked. Dude has bad memories of this park.

Adrian Gonzalez didn’t do much better. He got worked by his hard-throwing pitcher and left the park just twice.

Carlos Pena also failed to find his swing in the first round, swatting just five.

I see Duncan is shagging the fly balls….perhaps Thompson could pitch.
