Snow Stops, Fun Begins
The snow finally stopped falling. But the wind did not stop blowing.
Still, fans poured into Busch Stadium for the pre-game ceremonies. They stood at attention while Mike Shannon reminisced with Hall of Fame Cards like Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith and Lou Brock. Shannon tried to coax a back flip out of Ozzie, to no avail.
And then it was time for Fredbird to lead the caravan of current Cardinals onto the field. Oh, well.
It was especially great to see Stan Musial join the festivities. It was also cool to see Albert Pujols join the gang of all-stars on the mound for the ceremonial first pitch.
As it turns out, Red Schoendienst has a better arm than the mayor of Cleveland.
