Dodgers Rough Up Pineiro
Joel Pineiro was about to get out of the third inning unscathed.
There were two out and a runner at first base. Andre Ethier was batting for the Dodgers and Pineiro had owned him in his career, getting him out all seven times he faced him in regular season play.
But Pineiro left a 3-1 pitch up in the zone and Ethier crushed it for a two-run homer and a 3-0 LA lead.
Manny Ramirez followed with another double, then James Loney reached when Pineiro botched a throw from Albert Pujols while covering first base. A would-be groundout became an error.
With runners at first and third, Pineiro finally escaped the inning by getting Casey Blake to ground out.

This series is over. No offense, no winning the series. And, no I don’t tip my hat to the Dodgers. The Cardinals haven’t been hitting any pitchers with any team leading up to the playoffs. They get what they deserve. I wish it had turned out better. Well, I better stop, the game isn’t over, or is it…..
I am 48 years old and have been a Cardinal fan my entire life. I have never ever seen a more lifeless St. Louis team than I have seen in this series.
This team parked their game the night they won the Central Division title. That title will mean NOTHING in a few more innings when the Dodgers complete a 3-0 sweep on our home field.
Tell Chris Carpenter not to worry. He will NOT be needed tomorrow.
Not unless this team finds a heart.
