Pujols Spoils LA’s Shutout

Dodgers manager Joe Torre summoned closer Jonathan Broxton a bit early, bringing him in with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to face Albert Pujols.

And Albert got him, ripping a single to score Julio Lugo from second base and cut the Dodger lead to 5-1.

But Matt Holliday popped out to strand Pujols and that was that.

The Cards will still try to sign Holliday in the coming days, but Matt didn’t exact prove himself invaluable during this postseason.

OMG - really,I don’t want to be to dramatic - but this team choked from top to bottom. Tony went crazy with the lineups, our closer checked out, and the offense started playing golf.

1/2 of the Dodgers runs from the 3 & 4 hitters. Our best hitter in the post season was put in the 7 slot tonight.

I don’t blame TLR for this one…it has been a great year…better than anyone ever thought coming into Spring Training…I always thought that the Cards fans were the best in baseball but reading some of the comments a lot of you sound like whinny Cub fans!! We need a new hitting philposhpy but other than that I’m very proud of this team and what it accomplished this year!! Lets sign some guys and gear up for 2010!! Besides when have we ever played well in the postseason in an odd number year??
