Rams trade up again, take guard

The Rams really liked Oregon State Roy Schuening, so they made another trade-up to get him.

Finally the Rams took a player that was rated higher than he actually went. Schuening looks like a great pick, a collegiate power blocker who could step in as a rookie if injuries struck.

“I know Mike Riley at Oregon State,” Rams personnel czar Billy Devaney said. “I know the offensive line coach there. That factored into the evaluation.

“They ran the ball, they threw the ball — he was exposed to a lot at Oregon State.”

After this deal, the Rams won’t pick again until the seventh round. Fans should feel free to go mow their lawns and check the draft tracker later this afternoon.

So, maybe that’s why the Rams traded out of the 6th round. They seem to be only making good picks in the odd rounds. I think the 2nd and 4th rounds were not great picks, but the 1st, 3rd, and the 5th look good, so far. Maybe the other two will prove me wrong.

So now the draft is over. Where do the Rams find a LB or two?

This draft has been outstanding! The only position yet to be addressed is LB and I am sure that is coming. We have traded up for huge value and picked up steals in the with Burton and especially Oregon State guard Roy Schuening. We now have an outstanding offensive line that is going to allow us to be the most productive offense in the west. The only stretch was our pick in round 2 with Avery, we all love the blazing speed so hopefully the only stretch is with him streching the field deep for touchdowns!

1. What were the terms of the trade?

2. WHERE ARE THE LBs?

i like the trades, the rams have picked some good offensive linemen that will allow the team to add depth and possibly in the near future deal alex barron for future draft picks, I like the pick up in the 7th of chamberlain, he could be used as a big safety, and help out on special teams.

I can’t believe we passed on Dan Connor twice. This draft other than Long looks like it was decided by the wallet rather than improving the team. Oh well new coach next year and we’ll still be in the same draft position. Too bad the front office doesn’t get cleared out with the coach.

Constance…

You are sensible. Before receiving notice of your comments, I intended to apologize to all decent human beings for my writing out of turn. I don’t apologize for what I’ve said, only for having ruffled proverbial feathers…
