In Fifth Round, Rams Draft WR

Yes, the Rams finally filled a roster hole. They took North Carolina WR Brooks Foster, a high-upside guy coming off minor knee surgery.

What do we know about this guy? He played as a walk-on the great 2005 Tar Heels basketball team. He came to UNC as a highly coveted football prospect, but he never earned him a regular role.

So you have to wonder. He has tools, but he never became a big playmaker at the collegiate level. He caught 38, 29 and 30 passes in his last three seasons.

He is a potential gunner for the special teams, but he is not a return guy. He wowed scouts with his strength work at the combine.

Foster is listed at 6-foot-3 in the North Carolina press guide, but his combine measurement came in under 6-1.

Analysis (from NFLdraftscout.com)

Positives: Athletic build with room for additional mass. Long arms. At least adequate straight-line speed to challenge over the top. Good agility. Flashes the foot quickness and balance to be an effective route-runner. Generally reliable hands. Can extend outside of his frame and pluck the ball out of the air. Catches and quickly turns upfield for positive yardage. Good strength to run through arm tackles in the open field.

Negatives: Isn’t the sum of his parts. Lacks elite top-end speed to challenge deep and the explosiveness out of his breaks to consistently gain separation. Inconsistent hands. Allows too many balls into his chest, resulting in some ugly drops. Struggled with a knee injury late in the year and had to leave the Senior Bowl practices early as the pain flared up again. Knee requires a medical check.

Could be a sleeper pick, has good upside and not much left there at the WR position.. the run on Wide recievers started when we picked our 4th round guy.. Foster’s production dropped way off after 2006 season

Who exactly is Bulger going to be throwing to? We draft a tackle to protect the QB and dont draft anyonme for him to throw to? what do we have against drafting 6′5 wide recievers

I think we should have taken Duke Robinson. Hopefully this guy can make the team.

Who exactly is Bulger gonna throw too? The giants traded 2 pick to Philly to move up and get Barden from Cal-Poly. That’s what succesful franchises do…Day 2 was a joke after a good day 1 Foster wasnt even a regular starter…amazing
