Rams-Seahawks Third Quarter

The Rams are trying to establish Steven Jackson to create better down-and-distance opportunities for Bulger. And they actually open the second half by earning a first down.

Hey, Torry Holt catches his second pass of the game. Great to see he is still on the team.

Jackson finally gets loose on a swing pass, using his acceleration to get up the left sideline for a 50-yard gain. The Rams are in the red zone again!

(Jackson normally scores on that play, but it was his sixth “touch” in a span of seven plays. He was gassed.)

On second down, Bulger tries to throw an interception but the Seahawks didn’t want it. On top of that, the Rams get called for offensive pass interference; tight end Anthony Becht set a pick. Jackson follows that mishap with a fumble (he got the ball back), but then Bulger connects with Dane Looker for actual TD pass.

No kidding, the Rams scored — cutting Seattle’s lead to 27-13.

Is there any chance the Rams defense will respond with an emotional stop? The Rams defense open with good pressure, but fail to take down Hasselbeck with a sack.

And then Julius Jones breaks loose for 19 yards and Seattle is off and rolling again. Corey Chavous is better talker than a tackler.

Look! Jim Haslett orders up a blitz and Will Witherspoon beats Chavous to Hasselbeck for a sack.

The defense did make a stand. But Dante Hall is called for an unusual personal foul penalty — for calling for a fair catch, then blocking a Seahawk chasing the ball — and the Rams are stuck back at their 5.

A quick Bulger-to-Jackson pass gets the Rams out of immediate trouble. The 12-yard gain gives Jackson 117 yards of total offense on 22 touches.

Seattle eventually overwhelms the Rams, though, stuffing Jackson on third-and-one by blowing up the offensive line.

First Ron Bartell keeps Seattle’s next possession alive with an illegal contact penalty. Then the middle of the Rams defense gives in as the Seahawks pound Jones and Duckett again and again and again.

It’s pretty clear rams don’t have redzone experience.

Linehan has got to be the worst joke of a coach in a decade. At any other organization he would be have been fired last season. The guy cannot motivate and does not have the wherewithal to be a head coach. Can’t believe Rams just scored. Isn’t this the first RED ZONE TD this season and we are already at game 3? Pathetic…
