Bears-Rams First Quarter: Chicago Scores Immediately
The Rams didn’t want to start with the ball. So they kicked off an allowed Danieal Manning to return the ball out to midfield.
Perfect.
An end-around run by Devin Hester got 20 yards. Kyle Orton’s pass to Desmond Clark earned 15 more yards. And then Matt Forte finished off the lightning-fast scoring drive with a 13-yard TD run.
The Rams defense put up absolutely no resistance. Just 1 minute, 55 seconds into the game, the Bears had a 7-0 lead after a four-play scoring drive.
The Rams’ first two runs resulted in a combined loss of eight yards. That put the onus on Marc Bulger immediately.
He completed a 15-yard pass to Torry Holt for one first down, but he got sacked on his second third-down passing opportunity.
This game could get ugly in no time at all.
Bulger was knocked silly on that sack, so Trent Green replaced him midway thorugh the first quarter. On his second play from scrimmage, he absorbed a 16-yard sack.
Like we said, this could get ugly.

It doesn’t matter who plays QB or RB, this team just sucks. This will be a shutout. 34-0 Bears (and that’s being optimistic).
Don’t want the ball first…again??? Sorry Gordo, Bernie, and Bryan but Haslett needs to go along with the rest of the crap they are putting on the field every Sunday. This is a 2-14 team and be thankful for that on Thursday that it wasn’t 0-16!
And Incognito wonders why the fans aren’t cheering.
It’s early, and as a Ram faithful for 51 years I have to try and remain confident, but this game is starting to look like all the others we’ve lost this year. Not much to cheer about.
My gut says we should just blow up this collection of soft loser who lie down like dogs week after week. I’m serious. Thomas thinks it’s a bad idea because of the cap hit, but wouldn’t it make sense just to cut everybody who isn’t earning their pay or has no real promise like the rookies we drafted last year–take the lot of them, trade them for picks and then cut the rest we can’t trade. Take that huge hit to the cap next year, wind up 2-14 just like this year with street free agents playing where we can’t fill the holes with this year’s draft. Then we’ll be able to get some real FAs the year following and we’ll be contending in 2010.
The way we play now and worry about the cap every year and have softies and has beens at key positions for what seems like forever, we won’t contend until 2020 and only then if we change coaches and get lucky.
I have a difficult time believing the Rams call themselves a ‘professional’ football organization. They are getting outperformed in every area on and off the field. If Chip doesn’t spend some money hiring strong front office personnel, this team will be a joke for years to come.
Not that it will matter but that was clearly a delay of game on the 3rd down catch by Hester. Nothing is going right for this team. The defense couldn’t stop a little league team.
Nice return by Stanley, here comes a Rams TD!
And, like the Lions, the Rams cruelly snatch hope away from their fans…
Are you kidding? Who are those 5 guys standing in front of the QB? Are they actually paying these guys money?
Worst offensive line ever. Viewing Rams football these days should be a new method of torture.
