Dolphins-Rams First Quarter, Cont.: Rams Lead 6-0
A 13-yard Steven Jackson run got the Rams rolling again. Then Marc Bulger hooked up with Torry Holt and Dane Looker for first-down completions.
Bulger tried to go over the top of the Miami defense to Keenan Burton, but the Dolphins were waiting for the deep throw. Then a dreaded pre-snap penalty on Donnie Avery put the Rams in a tough second-and-15 situation.
They worked out of that – but on fourth-and-3 at the Dolphins 33, Jim Haslett opted to play it safe instead going for the first down. Josh Brown’s 51-yard field goal extended the St. Louis lead to 6-0.
Miami’s second possession started on its own 9, due to a holding penalty on the ensuing kickoff. But the Dolphins wasted no time running the ball out of trouble.
On three consecutive runs, three different Dolphins ran for first downs – and none of them were named “Ronnie Brown.”
This power sequence could bode trouble for the Rams “D” as the game progresses. If the Dolphins start running downhill though that front seven, this game could turn in a hurry.

Your right about troubles for the D. They just keep getting burned on key third down sequences. At least it isn’t 40-0. Then again, there is still 11 minutes left…
Pisa and Chavous both hit Brown in the backfield and neither can make the tackle. Two guys that need to go during the offseason.
