First Quarter, Cont.: New York Jets expand lead

The good news for the St. Louis Rams: They got Torry Holt involved right away, as Marc Bulger located him with his second pass of the game.

The bad news: That third-down pass gained just five yards and the Rams’ first possession was a three-and-out failure.

Say, who was supposed to cover New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller? Everybody bit on Brett Favre’s play-action fake, so Keller rumbled downfield uncovered for a 54-yard reception.

That bomb set up Jay Feely’s 22-yard field goal, which pushed the Jets lead to 10-0. The Rams defense gained a moral victory by getting a red-zone stop, but this game is getting away in a hurry.

After Antonio Pittman started the game, Kenneth Darby came in for the second possession. In just his third NFL carry, he broke a 14-yard run off right tackle.

Look, it’s Dane Looker! Back in the line-up in place of Dante Hall, he made a 16-yard catch.

But Bulger didn’t hear blitzing safety Abram Elam coming — after Orlando Pace didn’t see him coming — and disaster struck. Elam crushed Bulger is the back as he was about to throw.

The ball flew loose, Jets linebacker Calvin Pace picked it up on the bounce . . . and he was off to the races on a 48-yard TD return.

That gave the Jets a 17-0 lead, effectively ending the game. Time to rake leaves, people.

Glad I picked up the Jets Defense for this game….as a rams fan in wisconsin this is miserable…what happened to the fire haslett had under this team? They must have lost it after they lost that heartbreaker to the pats….this team can’t overcome losing…maybe they should fire haslett and let venturi become coach so they can go on another two game winning streak before losing 5 in a row

Have the Rams signed Haslett yet?

Our LBs are horrible. Tinoisamoa cannot pass cover. Leonard Little cannot defend the run anymore. Brown should have an INT but cannot catch the ball. Chavous cannot pass defend. Our offensive veterans Pace, Holt, & Bulger are all incredibly soft. The Rams need players and attitude. Very disappointing.

This is a TERRIBLE team.

These are TERRIBLE players.

This is a TERRIBLE franchise.

Case CLOSED.

And yet another touchdown for the Jets. I think I could make a fortune just betting against the Rams for the rest of the year. But look on the bright side! Bulgar hasn’t thrown an INT yet (why isn’t Green in there?). And it’s a good thing we have the best punter in the league or we’d be without hope. I found my sledgehammer and it was broken . I forgot, I used it to hit myself in the head at the end of last season. It turned out my head was harder than the hammer.

Bulger has got to be the slowest footed QB I have ever seen - he looks like he is running in slow motion. Marc - you can actually work on footwork & leg strength.
