Rams-49ers First Quarter, Cont: St. Louis Moves Ball
Travis Minor almost fumbled away his second kickoff return of the game. Minor is a terrific special teams asset, but perhaps returning kickoffs isn’t his thing.
On the first of the Rams’ third offensive series, Bulger took a coverage sack after failing to locate anything quickly.
Then fill-in running back Antonio Pittman broke another big run, hitting a seam for 22 yards. Yes, it appears he is finally back to full speed.
Bulger hit Derek Stanley for a quick 16 yards, letting practice squad graduate put his quickness to work. Getting the ball to him in the open field is a good thing.
Bulger zipped a 14-yard pass to Donnie Avery. Then Kenneth Darby punched out a first down on the ground as the Rams got back into scoring range.
Have you noticed that the Rams offensive line is knocking people around in this game?
Darby punched out still another first down, but tackle Orlando Pace went down with a right knee injury on the play. This injury put fill-in Adam Goldberg on the spot, although Pace was able to walk off the field under his own power.
The Rams finished the first quarter with 122 yards offensive yards, six first downs and more than 11 minutes of possession time.

Why on 3rd & goal does Bulger throw the ball away so quickly after his 1st option Holt is covered? Make a play! Quit panicking & make a play!
