Rams-49ers Fourth Quarter: San Francisco Finishes Off Victory
Could this game get worse? Sure, if players keep getting hurt.
This time it was linebacker Will Witherspoon going down with a garbage time injury. That brought David Vobora into the fray while Witherspoon regouped.
Fortunately for the Rams, Witherspoon made it back into the game.
The 49ers gave the Rams a chance to score more points when running back DeShaun Foster got careless with the football, allowing Pisa Tinoisamoa to punch it out. Naturally, the Rams failed to convert the turnover into any points.
With things in hand, 49ers coach Mike Singletary brought quarteback J.T. O’Sullivan off the bench to spell Shaun Hill.
Then Rams linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa had to walk off an injury. Since this game really ended hours ago, it’s tough watching key players getting hurt out there.
With the 49ers playing a prevent defense, Bulger was able to pad his statistics with one short completion after another.
The final St. Louis drive yielded consolation points, with Bulger slipping a 2-yard TD pass to Dane Looker. So the scoreboard, at 35-16, looked a little better.
Rather than just get off the field without any more injuries, Rams interim coach Jim Haslett opted to increase the risk by using his timeouts hoping to get the ball back one more time.
The Rams suffered their eighth loss in 10 games and (hopefully) a complete off-season overhaul.

Heartless. Gutless. Couldn’t beat UCLA, this year’s team.
Don’t know why, but I can’t stop watching them. How stupid is that?
