Rams-49ers Second Quarter, Cont.: More Bulger Giveaways!

Travis Minor’s 34-yard return gave the offense a good starting point at the Rams 39.

What did Al Saunders call first? A flick-flicker pass for Dane Looker, who got the ball on an end-around hand-off. The 49ers sniffed it out, though, and took down Looker before he could throw it.

Nice call, Al.

Then Bulger threw an interception while trying to go deep to Donnie Avery. Bulger threw into double coverage and hung the throw to boot.

WHY IS MARC BULGER STILL IN THIS GAME?

Back came the 49ers, with Shaun Hill completing pass after pass. The Rams sorely miss cornerback Ron Bartell, who is done for the day with a left knee injury.

Hill’s scramble and flip to DeShaun Foster advanced the ball to the Rams 1. Hill ran it in from there on a scramble . . , and now the 49ers were up 28-3.

That, ladies and gentlemen, was the ballgame. For the third week in a row, the Rams have been blown off the field before halftime.

With the game now in garbarge time. Bulger finally completed a pass to Torry Holt. Congratulations!

But then Bulger went down under an avalanche of 49ers rushers and the Rams started back toward their own goal line.

How bad was Bulger’s next interception? The 49ers were fighting each other for the ball thrown into heavy coverage.

Will we see Brock Berlin before this mess finally wraps up?

The 49ers converted Bulger’s latest blunder into another touchdown - on a fade pass to Bryant Johnson — and a 35-3 halftime lead.

Oh the humanity!

Wow.

Gee.

Who could have seen THAT coming?

Oh, that’s right — anybody who’s seen the Rams play during the past three years, that’s who.

Never mind.

Question: Why not put the second or third string players in this game? Let’s see if they can play, it can’t be any worse than what is going on now. Thanks

Look on the bright side. That first overall pick is still possible if the Lions get hot.

So now we are able to contrast coaching styles.

We have gone from Linehan’s Coach Spineless, to Haslett’s Coach Idiot. Or to put it more kindly, Coach Brain-Challenged. Honestly, after a quick start under Haslett’s mindless emotion, I have to say Coach Idiot looks a whole lot worse than Coach Spineless ever did. And that’s saying something. Seventy-five to three. In the last two first halves. Ike and Mike are making us look dumb and slow.

Can somebody please tell me what Marc Bulger does (or ever did) well? No mobility, no athleticism, no leadership, no improvisation, questionable smarts,a mediocre arm and the body language of a loser.

Bulger is beyond help. He is just throwing the football at receivers who are covered by 3 or more defenders. Bring on Brock. At least he will get some playing experience. He won’t do anything, but neither will Marcy Boy.
