Second Quarter, Cont.: New York Jets Roll To 40-0 Lead

The St. Louis Rams caught one break when Kenneth Darby’s fumble was erased by a defensive holding penalty. Receiver Derek Stanley wasn’t so lucky; the New York Jets recovered his post-reception fumble in scoring position as this bad game got worse for the Rams.

Rams cornerback Jason Craft dropped an easy interception. And this bad game got worse for the Rams.

Jay Feely kicked field goals from 49 and 46 yards as the Jets pushed their lead to 30-0. They scored on their first five offensive possessions in this game, plus one defensive possession.

Were the young Rams receivers to blame for Marc Bulger’s first interception of the game? Maybe, since they were running side by side down the field for much of their routes.

But it still looked bad for Marc when safety Kerry Rhodes picked off his pass and returned it 50 yards into the red zone. Brett Favre’s TD pass to Dustin Keller made it 37-0.

And the bad game got worse for the Rams.

Just for good measure, Darby fumbled ahead before halftime. And this time the fumble counted. Another Feely field goal — this time from 55 yards — made it 40-0.

Oh, the humanity!

Is there even a professional football team in St. Louis?

This is the worst game and worst Ram effort in the history of the franchise

Why don’t the Rams just sit everybody down next half and play Berlin and the scrubs. Maybe they’ll find a player worth keeping that hasn’t smelled the field so far after the post season massacre is complete and the house is completely cleaned.

This team will go 2-14. That should be good enough for the #1 pick, don’t you think?

This is the most embarassed I have ever been to be a Rams fan. That includes the 90’s! 40-0 at the half? I can only hope that those in charge make significant changes after this week. There is no way this happens without players who have quit.

Seriously, what do they do for an encore in the 2nd half? Should they just call the game at this point? Maybe both teams just insert practice squads. Would love to see a Rams - Alabama game.

Unfortunately, Detroit is still 0-8, but we should be in shape for one of the top 3. But if they got rid of all the bad talent on this team we wouldn’t have enough guys to field a team. Maybe we could ask for a variance on the salary cap citing exceptional circumstances.

Is there any chance that Bulger will be on the bench the second half?

I guess Haslett isn’t the genius everybody thought he was after the Dallas game. I realize there are a multitude of problems, but the #1 problem is the interior line. The Bell-Leckey-Cogs 3-some must go. It’s game after game of those 3 getting knocked around like beach balls. That idiot Haslett deactivaed Greco and Schenuing so we’re stuck with these guys. If the Rams continue to play Freco at C then I will stop watching them as this Ram team is an embassament to Rams fans and the NFL. Let’s try Pace-Scheuning-Romberg-Greco-Barron on the O-line. what do we have to lose?

Seems to me that the Rams will go to their two minute offense for the entire second half to try and catch up an d look respectable if nothing else. As I recall, their two minute drill is to run off tackle left, fire a quick slant to the slot receiver, run over center and punt–if the pass isn’t intercepted or one of the running plays doesn’t result in a fumble.

They really need to play Berlin and scrubs next half. How could it be any worse? This team would have trouble b eating the junior varsity at the Tiajuana high school for parapalegic girls.
