49ers-Rams First Quarter, Cont.: Visitors Take 3-0 Lead
Shaun Hill hooked up with Isaac Bruce on a 21-yard pass to get the 49ers into scoring position. That drew a hearty “Bruuuuuuce” cheer from those intrepid Rams fans who braved the elements to get inside the dome.
That catch and run set up Joe Nedney’s 48-yard field goal, so the San Francisco took a 3-0 lead on its second possession of the game.
The Rams attempted to answer that score. Marc Bulger gunned a pass to tight end Daniel Fells, who muscled his way for a first down. Unlike Joe Klopfenstein, this kid look likes a keeper.
A blocking-in-the-back penalty on Adam Goldberg complicated things, but a big strike to Torry Holt kept things moving.
