Rams-Falcons Fourth Quarter, Cont.: Atlanta wins 31-27
The Rams couldn’t convert Jonathan Wade’s interception into seven points. Perhaps that slow-developing wideout screen pass to Steven Jackson wasn’t the best red-zone call.
But Josh Brown knocked home the go-ahead field goal, putting the Rams up 27-24 and forcing the Falcons to play catch-up with 6:39 left to play.
The Falcons responded by feeding Michael Turner again and again. And then it was Jerious Norwood’s turn, gashing the Rams defense for a 45-yard gain.
Atlanta has 265 yards rushing. Two hundred and sixty-five!
Bulger came back with a 29-yard completion to tight end Joe Klopfenstein (!) to get the Rams to midfield. Two more strong Jackson runs moved the Rams inside the Atlanta 30 at the two-minute warning.
Can the Rams find their way into the end zone? Can they find a way to finish off a drive?
Bulger took another sack on second-and-2. Then he overthrew Dane Looker on third-and-10. And then he floated a pass over Donnie Avery’s outstretched arms on fourth-and-10.
And there you go: The Rams lost, albeit in exciting fashion, and finished the season 2-14.
Our long local nightmare is finally over.

Klop with a big play? Holy sh**!
What is more surprising?
A JWade interception or a Joe Klopeoirjladkfj reception.
What would be the most surprising? Bulger leads a comeback.
And Bulger takes a sack, can’t blame the o-line for this one though.
WTF, why does Bulger always throw to Looker of all ppl in crucial situations.
Yeah, I didn’t think so.
And with the #2 pick in the draft……
Bulger cannot get it done under pressure.. good effort though, Atlanta is a good team and they hung with them - a lot of these guys will be gone next year. Jackson is a work horse if he can stay heathly which is not probable..
You only have to look at the last three games to know why everyone is down on Bulger. There’s no chance at a comeback with this guy behind center.
Bill Parcells said it: “You are what your record says you are.” The Rams have a losing culture, period. Forget all their great plays today. Forget how many points they put on the board. They didn’t have enough football in them to win today either. They are a losing culture, period.
It’s amusing but sad. Time and time again, Bulger is given the chance to bring this team back. Over the past 3 weeks, the Rams has the ball with plenty of time to get it done. Each result, LOSS. He is obviously not the only problem the Rams have but all every team wants is a chance to win at the end. I predicted it each week, hoping that I was wrong, but the end result was pathetic. Look forward to cleaning house and starting with fresh new uniforms for 2009!
