Second Quarter: Vikings push lead to 17-3
Kyle Boller kept the drive moving with another completion to Keenan Burton and a successful fourth-and-one sneak to the Minnesota 14.
Steven Jackson pounded the ball inside the Minnesota 2 . . . and then lost the ball on the very next play. He juggled the handoff from Boller and never got a handle on it.
(As a bonus, Jacob Bell was flagged for holding on the play.)
Now this is Rams football!
Rookie Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis got the ball back with an interception, hanging on to a football that Brett Favre threw right to him.
That gave the Rams a first down on the Minnesota 25. On third down, Boller actually ATTACKED THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD with a 14-yard completion to tight end Daniel Fells.
But that is as far as the Rams could get on this drive. Josh Brown was able to convert a rare field goal attempt, from 29 yards out, and the home team was finally on the board.
On the ensuing kickoff return, Rams cover man Quincy Butler was flagged for a horse collar tackle. That allowed the Vikings to start their next series on their 44-yard line.
Favre’s rollout pass to Percy Harvin was good for 19 yards. Minnesota seemed to be rolling again.
But Rams defensive tackle Clifton Ryan slowed the charge by batting a Favre pass in the air – and the Vikings settled for Ryan Longwell’s 47-yard field goal.
That increased Minnesota’s lead to 17-3.
After Donnie Avery dropped another pass, Steve Jackson got wide open in the left flat on third down. His 25-yard catch and run moved the ball all the way to the Minnesota 23.
Samkon Gado ground out 14 more yards on two carries as Jackson caught his breath.
On second-and-7 from the Minnesota 9, Boller flicked a rollout completion to Daniel Fells. But as Fell spun inside the Vikings 5, he spit up the ball into the happy arms of Minnesota linebacker E.J. Henderson.
That’s Rams football!

See what I mean?
Now, that’s creativity at its best!
March from what, your own 6? Take it to the other guy’s 1, and then dribble it away.
How could it possibly get better than this?
Jackson is a legend in his own mind. Even when given the chance, he still FUMBLES. 0-16 BOOK IT Dano!!!
wow! we gotta pick!!! let’s see what we do to screw it up!!
we gotta field goal!!!!! wooohooo!!!!
Gordo buddy, I loved that putting in bold that Boller “actually ATTACKED THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD”. Keep running him down old buddy and I may get my job back.
Even the rams radio network are having tech. difficulties for the third week in a row. But the vikings radio broadcast is fine on nfl mobile. This organization is batting a 1000 today.
our defence is actually playing well! But what is the deal about our offence and being inside the 20??? We automattically hit the self destruct button!!!
Jackson on a roll! Will he get his first TD of the year? The guys up front need to stay on their blocks!
Somebody please tell Incognito to keep his hands to himself for this drive! No holding or personal foul knucklehead…
Another D’oh in the red zone!!
