Opener postponed, 5-1 lead goes to waste

Sadly, there was no way to play this game. Too much rain had fallen and too much more was on the way.

So none of what happened today mattered. The game will be replayed Tuesday at  7:15 p.m.

Good night and drive safely!

Very sorry to hear that, especially knowing that Albert’s homer won’t count. Oh well, hopefully he’ll hit 35 or 40 (or 50) more, and make us forget about the one that got away. :-)

Very disappointing, but it was extremely encouraging to see that kind of offensive burst in those first 2 innings. Hopefully they can do it all over again tomorrow.

When is Bud Selig going to wake up and realize that suspending rainouts instead of resetting them makes obvious sense?

I feel like every baseball commissioner has been asleep at the switch when it comes to this rule. As long as a whole new game and pitching pairing will take place tomorrow night, there is not a reason in the world why the game can’t resume in the third inning with a 5-1 Cardinal lead with every stat still active.
