PM Update: Faulk wouldn’t Rush to embrace Limbaugh
Tipsheet never agrees with Rush Limbaugh on political matters, but the Rams could do worse for its next owner. The guy is committed to Missouri and he has plenty of ultra-rich friends to join the project.
But Marshall Faulk is understandably skeptical about this prospect.
MEET TOM BRADY’S MAN SERVANT
Here is an interesting look inside the life of the celebrity/jock. That’s almost too much information.
THE CARDS NEED TO SCOUT THIS KID
Over at Deadspin, a youth sports story caught the attention of Rick Chandler. He wrote:
“Nine-year-old Jericho Scott has been banned from pitching in a New Haven, Conn., youth baseball league because he throws so hard that he frightens the other players, according to league officials. But he took to the mound on Saturday anyway, so the other team simply dropped their bats and left the field, refusing to face him (San Diego Padres: ‘You can do that?’). Next logical step for all involved? Lawsuits! See, this is why I love you, America.”
Our take:
It’s not uncommon to see obvious ringers competing in recreational and CYO leagues, to the chagrin of opponents. Tipsheet has recruited overqualified youngsters to slant the competitive balance from time to time, so we know the drill.
But Tipsheet also understands that kids shouldn’t be forced into more competitive leagues at the age of 9. Let them remain kids! “Select” sports will come soon enough, at the expense of a normal childhood.
As long as the superior player isn’t hurting other players – and that wasn’t the case here, since the kid had great control – he should be able to play with his peers.
“He’s never hurt any one,” said his manager, Wilfred Vidro, according to the Associated Press. “He’s on target all the time. How can you punish a kid for being too good?”
TOO SOON, DUDE, TOO SOON
The Daily Mail of London reports that a BBC football commentator made an “inappropriate remark,” as his bosses termed it, about the Spanish air disaster during a match.
Reporter Chris Price told listeners that Rochdale “were making more holes in the Bradford defense than in a Spanish aircraft”.
Ouch! This quip came just three days after a Spanair plane crashed at Barajas International airport in Madrid, killing at least 153 people.
“I honestly thought I was being descriptive,” Price said. “It wasn’t meant to be funny; it was just a descriptive phrase. If people are offended by what I said, then of course I apologise but I never intended to offend anyone.”

As for the little leaguers who don’t want to face the hard throwing pitcher…shame on them and their parents. One of the things Sports teaches us is how to overcome fear. To not let it control you. And yes, even at 9. What are these kids learning? How to quit? How to not try?
I am against parents who live their lives through their kids. But this is different. Life is hard sometimes. Sometimes the other guy(s) is bigger and better. But you still have to try your best.
This is exactly what’s wrong with a society that eliminates gym class, gives everyone a trophy, and refuses to encourage kids to take steps towards growing up. Pathetic.
As long as the owner has money, who gives a rat’s ass if he is a radio personality. I want an owner who will keep the team here and have the drive to keep it successful. Rush worked for the Royals or something like that years ago I think, and he is a big sports fan. It’s better than the owners living half a continent away…
Maybe Marshall should go impregnate ANOTHER woman he is not married to and keep his thoughts to himself.
Rush Limbaugh as owner? Yeah, that’s what St. Louis needs. A hard-core right winger who went deaf listening to his own voice.
He is a complete jerk. He makes me miss Bidwell.
Hopefully he can incorporate the Stars and Bars to the uniform and once and for all send St. Louis to it’s hilly billy cousins of the south.
That’s stupid Tim. Attacking someone for answering a question related to his own team. Since you aren’t an athlete, you should stop talking about sports. It’s the same BS. He’s free to speak his mind about anything. If you want to comment on his procreation ability, feel free, but it has no relevance to the topic.
Al, couldn’t agree more. As a left-wing nutjob, I blame us for this nonsense. Sports=competition. If you can’t handle competition and learning to win or lose, then why enter your kid into anything competitive where awards are given and teams have to lose? Gym classes should be mandatory at every level of school, if for no other reason than to teach kids to push themselves physically and mentally.
Marshal, I love ya man but you need to stick to sports and leave the politics to others. First of all his name is Limbaugh not Limbar. Which leads me to believe you have missed what the whole McNabb comments were about. To base your Hall of Fame decision on an owner who you did not even play for is ludicrous. What about your teammates, St. Louis fans, and the owner you DID play for? Lastly to make a comment you “NEVER” agree with Rush on ANY political matter is pretty far out in itself even if you are of the liberal persuaion.
Faulk was a good player but gee, what an idiot. He has never even heard Limbaugh or he would not make such a stupid statement and by the way the moderator also has to be uninformed to say he never agrees with anything that Linbaugh says about politics. I am sure that there are some things which he would agree with. You fellows had better stick with sports otherwise you come across as being very uninformed. PS. Limbaugh has many friends who are owners of NFL teams and I am sure his polictical outlook is more similar to the owners than that complete dunce , Faulk.
So what he would go in as a Colt…….lol ya right!
Rush would probably be a very good owner. I think he’d care, and he seems committed to excellence. I don’t agree with everything he says, but it’s funny to me how the so-called liberals are often more closed-minded and vitriolic than the conservatives to whom they seem to feel so superior.
Oh, and maybe Marshall, as well as all of us, should get educated about a topic before we comment. How about, “I’m not sure, I’ll have to study that some more”?
A highly paid black person connected to the NFL dissing a white Republican?
This is news?
Please, wake me up when Marshall Faulk publicly announces he wants to spend HIS money to be an owner.
Oh Big Al, if Rush owned the team and they won Super Bowls like the Patriots have done this decade, would you still want Bidwell?
Please, we’d like to know your answer. I don’t know many people who proclaim they love losers, excepting Cub fans of course :).
