Terrell Owens just won’t let go
As Rams fans know, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is back on track. And that’s a good thing, since Philadelphia faces a match-up against the Cowboys – and his chatty nemesis, Terrell Owens.
“I will say that Donovan made me a better receiver in Philadelphia, but I think Donovan would have a hard time admitting I made him a better quarterback,” T.O. told reporters, fanning the rivalry fires again.
Owens reminded reporters that McNabb seemed jealous of his popularity of Philly during his stormy tenure with the Eagles.
“I remember being in that stadium and hearing them chanting my name, and that couldn’t bode well for Donovan,” Owens said.
As always, McNabb stayed on the high road while dealing with reporters.
“We had great times here,” he said of Owens. “It’s unfortunate the way things ended up. But he’s happy where he’s at and I’m happy where I’m at.”
Elsewhere on the Cowboys front, quarterback Tony Romo was a Good Samaritan late Sunday night after the team returned from Cleveland. The Associated Press picks up the story:
Bill and Sharon White told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that at least 100 drivers ignored their broken-down Mercury before someone stopped late Sunday. Sharon said a well-dressed man ‘with something strange on his chin’ walked up and offered a hand.
Romo needed 13 stitches after his chin was split open in the 28-10 win over the Browns. He bent down and helped the Whites get their faulty air compressor to fill up the tire.
Sharon White said she asked twice before Romo confirmed her suspicions about the do-gooder’s identity.
“I did something no 50-year-old woman should be doing, but I screamed real loud, and then jumped up and hugged him,” Sharon told the newspaper in Thursday’s editions.
MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE
Questions to ponder while wondering why the Cardinals keep running on Alfonso Soriano:
- Is Ned Yost’s collar starting to tighten up in the Brewers’ dugout?
- Will Francisco Rodriguez have anything left when the Angels reach the playoffs? Or when he reaches free agency?
- Who, if anybody, plans on covering Plaxico Burress in the Rams’ secondary Sunday?

Here is what some of America’s leading sports pundits have been writing:
Bill Simmons, ESPN.com: “If I were the Patriots, I’d subpoena Bridget (Moynahan)’s phone records to see how many calls were placed to a ‘B. Pollard’ in Kansas City over the past few weeks. I am not ruling out the possibility of Bernard Pollard becoming the Shane Stant of his generation.”
Mark Kriegel, FoxSports.com, on Patriots coach Bill Belichick: “If consistency were a virtue, Belichick would be a saint. Unfortunately, he’s just a football coach, intent on limiting his public utterances to expressions of disinformation and thinly veiled contempt. Still, how many coaches could stick to the game plan as zealously as Belichick, in a manner that makes Bill Parcells seem like Dr. Phil?”
Greg Cote, Miami Herald: “Floyd Mayweather Jr. had $7.2 million in jewelry stolen from his home. Dear Floyd: Take a fraction of the money you spend on bling, and invest in a decent home security system. Just a thought.”
Steve Rosenbloom, Chicago Tribune: “I caught Hannah Storm on ‘SportsCenter’ this morning, and I’m thinking, quick, someone tell her that the 1980s called and they want their hair back.”
Dan Daly, Washington Times: “News item: The LPGA changes its mind about a rule requiring players to speak intelligible English at tournaments - or face suspension. Comment: Heck, if baseball had a rule like that, there would have been no Yogi Berra.”

“Football, this is my life. This is my dream. All I did all these years growing up to get to this point and never had an injury like this before in my life. It’s a hard time because I’m a competitor, and I definitely want to be out on the football field with my teammates.”
Titans quarterback Vince Young, on his emotional instability.

Thank you to the 2008 Cardinal team for a good honest effort. Give TLR and the coaching staff credit for having the boys reading to play everyday. We all know what happened here and the GM and owner will be facing big time pressure in the off-season.
Shut it down Albert, you got the 100 RBI’s in the bank, have the surgery and get yourself right for the next 10 years of your career. P.S. – don’t let the Cardinal team doctor do the surgery or we might never see you again.
The Rams can talk about a sense of urgency all they want, until it shows on the field, nothing changes:
Giants – 28 Rams – 10 (I may be giving them credit by saying they will actually get into the end zone)
