T.O. Belongs On The O.C.

Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens has vast talent, obviously, but he carries on like a teenage girl with his teammates.

The latest example: According to various reports, T.O. believes quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten are holding private meetings to draw up their own passing plays.

As a result of their special friendship, Owens believes he is getting frozen out, of the offense. Seriously, he really believes this is the case.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that wide receivers Owens, Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton met with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to express their concern Romo was relying too heavily on Witten.

“I’m not jealous of Witten,” Owens later told the Dallas Morning News. “I’m not jealous of nobody. I can take the approach that I got paid, so screw everything, but that’s not me. I just want to win. I’m not trying to create a war of words with anybody. I thought we had a productive meeting, and I just talked to Jason about Tony reading the whole play because other people are open besides Witten.”

ESPN.com got this gem from an unnamed Cowboy: “If you only knew all that guy does. It’s gonna go down with him before it’s all over with. He is unbelievable.”

Earlier, T.O. fired back at former Cowboys Keyshawn Johnson and Emmitt Smith. Those two have been critical of the current team.

“Those two need their own show,” Owens told reporters. “Dumb and Dumber.”

Fortunately, hard-line Cowboys coach Wade Phillips has this whole thing under control . . .

MOCKING THE RELEVANCE OF HOCKEY

MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE

Questions to ponder while the Yankees and Mets corner the market on pitching:

  • What will become of Jake Peavy now that the Cubs failed to close that much-anticipated deal?
  • If the Cards fail to lock up Brian Fuentes, will the club have to sacrifice offense to get some bullpen help?
  • How will history remember the Luis Perdomo Era with the Cardinals?

WAITING FOR MANRAM

Agent Scott Boras continues working team general managers and owners on behalf of Manny Ramirez, trying to get him a long-term deal. The Dodgers remain interested in landing him for the next two or three years, at huge dollars.

But the Dodgers won’t go long-term for the ManRam

“This is like watching the San Andreas Fault,” Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said, according to the Associated Press. “Some days you can see it move probably, and other days it’s going to sit there. And in a week or two it may move a lot. It’s a slow process. It speeds up and it slows back down.”

QUIPS ‘R US

Here is what some of America’s leading sports pundits have been writing:

Mark Kriegel, FoxSports.com: “This might be Brett Favre’s first season in New York, but he already seems to have a firm grasp on Jets Tradition, knowing that the annual December Collapse starts around Thanksgiving.”

Will Leitch, Deadspin.com: “Marty Schottenheimer might be returning to Cleveland. This is rather perfect. Other things I hope to happen: ‘The Drew Carey Show’ returns to primetime television, Brad Daughtery will scrap the NASCAR and go back to playing center and Clevelanders will make Dennis Kucinich mayor again. Actually, that would be pretty amazing. They’d sell seaweed at Indians games.”

Bill Simmons, ESPN.com: “No classic game has taken a bigger historical fall for reasons that had nothing to do with the game itself than the 2006 Rose Bowl following the pro careers (so far) of Vince Young, Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush. It’s like if ‘The Godfather’ won five Oscars in 1972, and within three years, Pacino was the fourth lead on ‘Sanford and Son,’ Brando was the sergeant on ‘The Streets of San Francisco,’ and Jimmy Caan was doing soft-core porn.”

Greg Cote, Miami Herald: “Alex Rodriguez reportedly will play for the Dominican Republic, not the U.S., in next month’s World Baseball Classic. Hmm. Born in New York, raised in Miami, rich on American dollars. Attaway to show your loyalty, A-Rod!”

Dan Daly, Washington Times: “Stars bad boy Sean Avery took a big chance last week when he made that crude remark about his ex-girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert. I mean, doesn’t he know her father is Jack Bauer?”

Frank Fitzpatrick, Philadelphia Inquirer: “Forty-four thousand Eagles fans were injured this week attempting to leap back onto the bandwagon. Police used riot guns and Coors Light to quell the stampede.”

MEGAPHONE

“He’s done. He’s not going to the Hall of Fame. There’s no chance. Too much damage. Too much trust was broken. Between the people that gave him his career, the people that wrote about his career, and the people that supported his career.”

Brian McNamee, talking to sportsimproper.com about Roger Clemens’ Hall of Fame chances.

No surprise that the Rams game is blacked-out. Looking a the schedule for Sunday there are only six NFL games that should be televised:

New York Giants - Dallas
Pittsburgh - Baltimore
Denver - Carolina
Minnesota - Arizona
Tennessee - Houston
Tampa Bay - Atlanta

Nothing more amusing than seeing a bunch of whiney millionaires crying in their beer and shooting themselves in the leg. I wonder how much noise it makes when the wind blows between T.O.’s ears.

The Cardinals need to be careful given their method of operation. When they “kick the tires” on a player, usually a body part or two ends up falling off.

Face it kool-aid drinkers, the only thing this organization is committed to is giving the perception of being competitive and nothing more.

If they are wavering on the type of contract to give a quality closer (something they really need) what are they going to do in 2 years when #5 is a free agent? You can kiss him goodbye as he will command $25 - $30 million per year on the open market with ease. There will be no “hometown discount” on that one and rightfully so.

Thank God the Rams game is blacked out. Now maybe this weekend we get to see quality football with players who care about the outcome.

The Cowboys and Jerry Jones are getting everything they deserve with T.O. – you knew it was just a matter of time.

As long as idiot owners like Jones are prepared to cough up big bucks for talent that has big mouth it will continue to sound off.

Speaking of Dallas thier first two coaches demanded character players on and off the field. Went to how many SB’s (6 or 7 — IMO Switzer or however his name is spelled does not count because of the team he inherited). Since then how many SB’s has “americas” team been too while the owner brings in one misfit after another??????

The Fox stations in Columbia MO, and Cape Girardeau were going to show the Rams, but they switched to Bucs-Falcons. Springfield IL, however, switched from Lions-Colts to Rams-Seahawks.

Come on S. W. what do you call the Birds on the Bat since the new ownership took over in ‘96?????? I have seen every WS since 1964 that my home town team has appeared in (’64, ‘67, ‘68, ‘82, ‘85, ‘87, ‘04, ‘06) and 25% of those have been during this regime. They appeared in too many playoffs during this regimes time for me to remember or too lazy to look up but I know they have been frequent compared to most other ML teams.

You want to cheer for a team that spends money senselessly try Yankees, Mets, Cubs. You will get no better results concerning PO production but you will be happy that each of these teams spend money like it grows on trees.

Oh, and I am willing to bet big bucks Pujols retires a Cardinal. Of course they could go out and spend freely now and lose the Pujols raffle in a couple of years — but hey, it would have made many happy for a couple of years.

S.W. brings up an interesting problem (what are they going to do in 2 years when #5 is a free agent?).

If he really is 28 (Dominican players are notorious for fudging their age), he will be 30 with 10 MLB seasons behind him. That is a lot of mileage, especially with an elbow that is about to burst. Rather than sign him for seven years at $200M, why not trade him for several assets prior to the end of the 2010 season before he begins the inevitable decline?

When will it stop being newsworthy that T.O. is crying about not getting enough touches? Here would be something worth printing: “Terrell Owens shuns attention, becomes a team leader and catches more than half the passes that hit his hands.”

As usual, S.W. just complains instead of giving a solution. Therefore has no credibility. I understand it’s easier playing Monday morning QB rather than playing the real QB. Now, instead of acting like someone who craves attention so much, give a solution. We’ll actually listen. The only reason you don’t, is because people will shoot holes right through you and your conspiracy theories (whooooo….management is out to get everyone….whoooooo). Rather you just throw out catch phrases like “Kool-Aid Drinkers” and “Sheep” for arguments. Really??? Come up with your own material, and stop repeating what Slaten says the day before…otherwise you don’t really matter. Who knows, we may actully agree on some things!
