Missouri-Oklahoma Second Quarter Cont.: Daniel’s Fumble Buries Tigers
This officiating crew doesn’t want the players to talk any trash. OU was flagged for a post-TD personal foul penalty, so the Sooners had to kick off from their 15-yard line, too.
Missouri started their next possession from the OU 47 as a result. But on the first play, Chase Daniel tried to advance the ball himself . . . and he fumbled the ball back to the Sooners in the process.
Mizzou CANNOT TURN THE BALL OVER and win. This is why: Oklahoma took over at midfield and started back to tack on another touchdown.
Sam Bradford’s bomb to Ryan Broyles moved the ball all the way to the Mizzou 9. Then Bradford hooked up with Juaquin Iglesias for the TD pass and a 24-7 lead.
How did the Tigers respond?
By going nowhere on their next possession, thanks to another successful third-down blitz. Daniel threw the ball away as a result and Missouri had to punt again.
The worst fears of Tiger fans are being realized. This game is getting away from their team in a hurry.
Oklahoma is just much, much better. Let the piling on begin!
Back-to-back completions to Iglesias got the Sooners flying downfield again. On fourth-and-6, the Sooners went for it — and Bradford rolled out and zipped the ball to Broyles to keep the drive alive.
Bradford is 21 of 29 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. His Heisman candidacy is looking pretty good, eh?
Mossis Madu finished off this drive with a 12-yard TD run. That jacked the OU lead to 31-7 with 2:37 left in the first half.
The Oklahoma-Florida showdown in the BCS Championship Game ought to be something.
Daniel’s next turnover was an interception thrown to Sooners defensive back Brian Jackson. OU knows Mizzou’s offensive tendencies inside and out.
Bradford immediately gunned the ball to Broyles to move the ball to the MU 6. Chris Brown took it from there behind his powerful offensive line and the Sooners’ lead was 38-7.
Remember when I wrote that Oklahoma wanted to step on the Tigers in this game? You’re watching it now.

They are going to beat us worse then when we weren’t a good team.
At the end of this MU season I am not sure what to think about Daniels. I really don’t think he is as good as the hype he got. He has been playing too one dimensional the2nd half of the season, and I am just not sure if he was a product of alot of weapons against a soft schedule or he is having a break down in his playing ability. This is a guy who could thread aneedle through D’s earlier this year and now against a so-so OU D he can’t do squat. What’s with Daniels scrambling? There is none, if he doesnt have anyone open he just runs straigt for the O line. Bradford however is a phenom, and my hats off to OU, they are absolutely the better team. Lets hope the Big 12 can represent against the Gators and not get worked.
Looking forward to see a new MU team next year. We’re gonna lose alot of players, but I am optomistic that MU will be strong if not stronger next year.
A big thanks to Chase (x 2) and the others. It’s been a fun ride. It’s over.
What happened to our defense? What happen to Chase? OMG - he looks totally unprepared for pressure.
Next year could be very humbling for ol Mizzou. Big Red is back (CO Big 12 North Champs).
I’m rambling because I feel a little cheated and a little disappointed in my self for really thinking they could compete in top 10. Go back and check the stats - we have beaten some mediocre teams but continue to lose - convincingly - to ranked teams.
Agree with averagebob. Have to thank the seniors for a wonderful couple of seasons, but it’s painfully obvious that they just can’t compete with the OUs and Texases of the world. This is just kind of sad. I thought they had a real chance earlier in the game when it was 10-7, but it got out of hand quickly. OU was going to score, so I can’t really put this one of the defense…the offense has just been awful. What’s wrong with Chase lately?
