Mizzou Spurt Doesn’t Last
Tigers swingman Matt Lawrence triggered a 6-0 mini-run for the Tigers, but Illinois responded with a push of its own.
So the Illini led 51-28 with 15:45 left to play. At this point, Missouri was just 12 for 37 from the field with six assists and nine turnovers.
Not good.
The Illini were 20 for 34 from the field. Trent Meacham scored five quick second half points to keep them rolling.
Bad things kept happening to the Tigers, including a couple of ticky-tack fouls on frustrated forward DeMarre Carroll.
