‘Dancing’ drama!

marie.jpgJust when “Dancing With the Stars” was getting predictable —  dancing, scores, fluff and filler — drama ensued. Marie Osmond was just getting her review from judge Len Goodman Monday night when she collapsed. Her partner kept her from falling, but she was out cold on the floor.  Before they cut to 5 long minutes of commercials, the audience went so quiet it sounded as if they’d been muted.  She’d just fainted, it turned out; a combo of heat and adrenaline and exertion and, she said, not breathing. I’m sure they get everybody checked out by doctors before putting them on a show this physical (although why they OK’d Cuban so soon after a hip replacement is a mystery) and have medical people on site, but I also have this terrible feeling that someday, someone will be seriously hurt or die on a reality show and then there’ll be an outcry about why this wasn’t prevented.

Welcome back Gail!

I was a big fan of Donny and Marie growing up so Marie is the reason I have watched the season, I had never watched it before. That was really scary when Marie fell last night, I was so worried it was something serious. I thought host Tom Bergeron did a great job of keeping calm and sending it to a commercial (very many commercials) and giving updates about her throughout the show.

Samantha has to go, bring back Drew Lachey! Although, she does look great for just having a baby. Did you hear her at the end of show last night saying We’ll see you back here next week, when Tom added quickly, No, we will see you tomorrow night!

Gail,
Do you have any idea why abc30 was not avaible on directv for most of last night? The screen just read that the station was unavailable?
What gives?

KDNL wasn’t available over-the-air either last night.

It was probably another transmitter problem.

I think if someone dies on a reality show, it probably wont’ be Dancing with the Stars. It would be a show like Survivor-like show where one is subject to many elements. Or, maybe The Biggest Loser, where players do dumb things like drinking two gallons of water to gain 17 lbs in one week. (Didn’t some lady die from something similar during a radio stunt?)

I think the reality-TV death will be very mundane. Somebody having a heart attack. A car wreck on “The Amazing Race.” (The producers say that’s what scares them most, not the challenges.)
