Two more rounds of ‘Survivor’ for CBS

In addition to “Fans vs. Favorites,” which premieres Feb. 7, CBS has ordered two more editions of “Survivor.” Casting on the first of those — “Survivor 17″!!! — is open at CBS.com. For some reason, “Survivor” wears unusually well, which I wouldn’t have predicted when it debuted way back in May 2000. Some seasons are better than others, depending on the casting, but “Survivor China” (a.k.a. No. 15) last fall was still averaging more than 15 million viewers and winning its time slot. Jeff Probst has signed on as host for the two new editions.
As true fans of great reality TV know, CBS has also ordered a 13th edition of “The Amazing Race,” but we’re unlikely to see it until fall.
With the continuing writer’s strike, this is hardly a surprise.
