‘Cupid,’ back from the dead
Long before he was Ari Gold on “Entourage,” Jeremy Piven was Cupid — or at least, a man who thought he was Cupid — in an offbeat comedy-drama from Rob Thomas, who went on to create “Veronica Mars.” “Cupid” only lasted 14 episodes in 1998-99, but fans never forgot it, pointing at it as a series ahead of its time and canceled too soon. Apparently, ABC thinks so too and has ordered a pilot for the new take on “Cupid” that Thomas has been working on. Piven fans shouldn’t expect him to return, however.
Rob Thomas is also working on a new version of “Beverly Hills, 90210″ for the CW. His website has some interesting stuff; here’s a link.

I remember liking Cupid back then. But what’s with all the recycling going on? Did the strke blow out the writers’ brain cells? After 60 years of television have we used up all the good plot lines and most of the bad?
And with the craptacular failure of Bionic Woman this season, shouldn’t they think twice? I mean, we might end up with a re-tooled “The A-Team.”
