‘Smallville,’ ‘Supernatural’ saved
Not that their futures were too seriously in jeopardy, but the CW has handed early pickups for fall to “Smallville” and “Supernatural,” as well as “Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill” and (inevitably) “America’s Next Top Model.” Also renewed was the wonderful, underappreciated “Everybody Hates Chris,” which will get a fourth season. “Chris” has also been acquired by Nick at Nite and will air there beginning in fall 2009.
“Smallville” will have eight more original episodes this season; four more for “Supernatural.” “One Tree Hill” has new episodes the next three weeks and is making six more. “Gossip Girl” will have five new episodes beginning in April, and “Chris” began a run of 12 unaired episodes on Sunday.

Yay for Smallville and Supernatural!
