‘American Idol’: Jason Castro goes home?

You never know how the vote will go at this point. He’s a cute boy with beautiful eyes and a sweet smile. But he was horrible (I think Simon said horrendous) Tuesday night. Why would he even try “I Shot the Sheriff” if he couldn’t do better than that mushy version? And how could he possibly forget a line in “Mr. Tambourine Man” that kids sing in kindergarten? “Jingle-jangle morning”? How hard is that to remember?

All in all, a disappointing night. I thought everybody seemed off in one way or another, and with that huge songbook (Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame) to choose from, shouldn’t it have been easier to pick a great song — the right song?

David Cook made a peculiar decision even choosing “Hungry Like the Wolf,” but he rebounded on the Who’s “Baba O’Riley” (aka the theme to “CSI: NY”) after a scary start. (Listen to the original, though, to be dazzled.) Syeshia was fine-ish on both her songs, and I’d hate for her to go, but she may have saved herself by her tearful response to the judges. David A. was best of the night, I thought (agreeing with the judges for once); he has a beautiful voice and gave good Elvis.

Jason, however, must. go. now.

Gail, I agree with you on every count with the exception of David Archuleta. I didn’t appreciate his “Love Me Tender” performance. I guess I just don’t like all the runs and embellishments. I do agree though that, vocally, Archuleta was very good last night. JASON MUST GO. At this point in the competition you just CAN’T forget lyrics. Sheesh. And his “I Shot The Sheriff” — good grief! He wasn’t even in sync with the freaking band! Pack your bags indeed.

The only thing that kills me (and why I believe they want the Chosen Boy to win) - they told David C he did nothing original with Duran Duran - but what was the originality of David A in doing his first song “Stand by Me”- I’ve heard that version more than a few times and maybe even at karaoke! :)
I also was amazed at the reaction of changing up Bob Marley by Jason, didn’t realize he was untouchable as an artist - they had no problems with screwing with the Beatles - “make it your own” isn’t that the mantra? (I’m not saying I agree with what he did but he tried something)
When they commented that Cook was off last night, I can’t help but worry that his brother maybe isn’t doing well and obviously it would affect his performance? Really hope that is not the case.

Are you kidding? Jason Castro has his own style…as does David Cook.
Why Syesha is still there is questionable. and who decided that David Archuletta was good.. I always have to get up and leave the room when he’s on… he’s forgotten words… 3times in one song… always off key… his pitch…ew… he should have been voted off way back… all of the “good” female singers are gone… Jason Castro has a difinitive style and I would DEFINITELY buy his muisic… why can’t anyone on IDOL be an individual? David Cook should win with a slam dunk…. Let’s hope David A. leaves tonight… I don’t want to hear him sing agasin… he’s only there because of the teeny boppers votes… please let’s hope it’s the end of the road for him!

Although Archuleta sounded good, it’s the same thing every week. It’s getting really annoying. And his performance is nonexistent. Jason was horrendous, which sucks because I really like him. Syesha was bad the first song, better the second. Could’ve done without the tears. David Cook dialed in the first performance, but I really liked his Baba O’Riley.

I see Jason leaving, but I kind of hope it’s Syesha.

Even though Castro was horrible, I wish Archie would go. I’m so tired of him. It’s the same thing over and over and over and over and over and…I think you get my drift. He’s so incredibly BOOring, and his gasps for air bug the you know what out of me. Sigh-eesha was good, but she’s too into herself. She needs to get out of there and get on Broadway. I love David Cook, though. While last night wasn’t all that great for him, he’s still amazing. Or as Randy would say, “I’m not jumping up and down, but I’m not mad at ya, Dogg.” If he wins or not, I’m sure he’ll do fine in the music business. Archie will fade away like Taylor Hicks…

I think Jason is by far the worst singer that has ever made it this far. He has stated in the past that he hasn’t really put in the effort that is probably needed to win. So why bother even trying out? His groupies who vote hundreds of times each are all that keep him going. If he wins he will most likely never have a hit.

Whats wrong with you people. Don’t you know that Jason wanted to be off the show weeks ago.He said so in an article last week. Why do you think he done every thing possible yesterday to get kicked off. Forgetting the lyrics was on purpose and you notice he let everyone know. At the beginning of the show he made a stupid face, When he was done with the singing the first song when ryan was standing next to him saying”If you want to vote for Jason dial…” Jason said Don’t vote and at the end of the show he gave a Nixon type wave saying goodbye to everyone. He didn’t want to stay any longer because he knew he was just being keep on the show because of his looks and that’s not what he’s about. There were other reasons but i will stop here.

Wanda is deluded if she thinks that Jason Castro has a style. I’m not a huge David Archueleta fan either — I agree with those who think he’s the same every week and it’s gotten boring as the weeks have progressed. For me, his best was “Imagine” and it’s been going down since then. I don’t quite understand the judges gushing over him as they do. But Castro should have been gone weeks ago. He can’t seem to sing above a whisper and I think Simon nailed it awhile back when he said that Jason sounded like a kid singing in his bedroom with his guitar at midnight. If he doesn’t go tonight, the system is truly flawed. I read another website that said if he stays tonight the other three should walk off and just let him have the bogus title. AMEN! My guess is that it will come down to the two David’s. David Cook should win it — he’s got it all together now.

David A. has a decent voice, but I cannot stand to watch him sing! And Jason is definetly the worst one there….Syesha was OK, but I LOVE David Cook!

Jason should have never been in the race, David A is annoying (and all his songs sound alike), Syesha is a good singer and has a future, but David Cook has it all and can sing anything from a ballad to hard rock. It will come down to the two Davids, but the David who is most marketable in the entertainment industry is David Cook. If David A wins, he’ll be competing against entertainers like Miley Cyrus and he’ll never make it.

Miley Cyrus entertainer? For little kids. Her time is near the end. 1 or 2 years at most. A creation of Disney backed by a Billion dollar business. Once the marketing money leaves so does she .

I thought Jason Castro should have gone weeks ago. He comes across as very lazy and to make matters worse attempts to sing songs which he has never heard or just unfamiliar with. I always felt something like John Denver would have been a better choice for Jason. Once, while in waiting, Jason was even seen yawning. Bored? Tired? Doesn’t want to be there? Bye bye Jason. Seventeen-year-old David Archuleta is our real American Idol.

I am not a fan of David A’s singing or performances, but he was the the best last night BY FAR. I thought his inexperience and nerves would sink him this week, but he stepped up and hit two home runs. He has consistently gotten better every week. Better song choices, better stage presence, better mic technique. Last night was his best performance yet. If he can continue to step it up like he has, he will pull off a shock upset win over favorite David Cook.

David Cook is still the best all-around performer, but he had an off night. “Hungry Like the Wolf” was a poor song choice, and his vocal strength was not up to the task of singing “Baba O’Reilly”. Too breathy and not forceful enough. His voice is powerful, but it wasn’t up to the task of covering Roger Daltrey, one of the strongest voices in rock history.

Seisha was good, but not great. Simon was right when he commented that she was doing a bad imitation of Tina Turner. These singers need to learn that choosing a song also means that your performance will be compared to the original artist, not just vocally but onstage performance. Tina Turner has a forceful stage presence that is nearly impossible to equal, and the difference was apparent in Seisha’s performance.

Jason. Should have been gone weeks ago. I thought he took admirable arrangement chances on “Sheriff”, but it just didn’t work. Then I thought that covering Dylan would be right in his wheelhouse and we’d finally see what this kid could do. And he forgot the lyrics. Time to go home, Jason.

I think some of you people have no musical taste or knowledge. David A. does not sing out of tune Wanda, he sings DEAD on tune. Although he may be repetitive, it is repetitive excellence. Syesha is a marvelous singer, and a beautiful woman, she will be a star. David C. is a very good singer with massive potential because he is versatile and original. It is sad that you people are the ones that vote, and clearly your the reason that Carly S. is gone and Jason is still around. Archuleta will win because he has the best voice, and is a trained singer. David is a professional already, and ready to record. That is the way I see it.

I am hoping that David C. gets voted off soon. I think he is the most talented of the final four, but if he wins, the Idol producers will own his a** for at least a year. He is too talented to not be allowed to “do his own thing”. Look at Daughtry. Losing with 4 contestants left was the best thing that could have happened. David Arculetta is perfect to be the next Idol….I can hear his Christmas album already.

We love ya’ DC…….now go out there and lose.

I liked Jason’s version of Tambourine Man (lyric blunder notwithstanding) I’m just sayin’.

For the person who said she likes Archie’s voice but can’t stand to watch him sing, I feel the same way about Celine Dion. But I guess she’s done alright.

Anyone ever notice that David A looks and sounds just like Bobby from the cartoon Bobby’s World? If I want to listen to a girl sing, I’d listen to a girl. Syesha’s good, but she has little originality. David Cook’s the real deal, I’ve said it since the first night. I can’t wait to hear his first album.

Ok, I get death looks everytime I say this so I won’t be surprised with the hate replies . . . . . . I do not think David A. is American Idol material. I did not say he wasn’t talented, the boy is a great singer, for live broadway shows or TV gigs. I think he seems miserable onstage like a sad clown performing. My heart actually hurts a bit when I watch him. Kind of like it did for Jason last night. I wanted him to do good and Tamborine Man started good, for the first 1.2 seconds and then whoosh up in flames. If this is a contest to find the next american idol for any radio play genre David Cook should win hands down. Sayesha and David could be on briadway or in a musical anywhere today, Jason will be fine for a while and then have to go back to whatever he was doing before. Idol jumped the shark a few years ago, but yet I keep watching!

i think “lip licker” needs to go home. i’m speaking of david archaletta. he is monotone and has not much range. i don’t understand what the people see in him. he is very limited in what he can do. his voice is too raspy…..

I really like both David’s. I think the best thing for David Cook would be to make it to the final two and lose. He’s ready to go, and I think would be much better off if he had complete control of his career. Also, I think David A. will be fine once he is marketed to the right kind of audience and given songs for his target market. He did well with the Mariah song. I think he will do fine in the pop market. I will say that he knows how to pick songs that showcase his voice on this show. Maybe he’s smarter than he is getting credit for.

I agree wholeheartedly with Paul. I think David A. hits all the right notes. I love listening to him. And what was the audience thinking getting rid of Carly so soon? By a mile the most talented female this year.

Melanie if you had a tenth of the Talent and Control that David A. has when he sings I’ll eat my shorts. I think some of you people who that have been ripping on his “pitchyness” or “raspyness” are in desperate need of a hearing test. When he sings his voice is creamy like Michael Buble’s. That is God given talent. It’s people like you who are the reason a talentless hack like Castro is still on the show. Is Archies smile not dreamy enough for you?

Dude I so think Jason should go home I totally think that he could have done better but you know David Aruchleta or however you spell his last name wasn’t to great either!I hated when he sung the Elvis Song if you knew that song you would totally would not like it! I don’t know I want Syesha to win but she won’t it’s going to be David Cook because there trying to make up for Chris Daughtry! My friend tried to vote for Syesha but it just went on to David Cook! I think the judges are just faking it and making David Cook win! But idk! Well we’ll see!

I love Jason Castro. I’ll be honest with you, Jack Johnson will get ahold of this guy and take him far. Beyond where the winner of this competition will ever go. David Cook is 2nd in my books, but to me would be better as the lead singer of a band, like Daughtry is now. Syesha has a great voice, but sounds like many other female artists out there already. David A, yeah, he belongs on a stage @ Disney World…I am glad Jason went last night, due to the fact if he won, he wouldn’t have been able to record something that he really wanted to, this was great publicity for a great new artist!!! Way to go Jason “Don’t Vote” Castro, that was a great decision to say that!!!

Jason was the best contestant on American Idol maybe not because of locals but he was the most interesting person on there. So what if he messed up once, it doesn’t mean he’s not a very talented artist. Everybody thinks his proformance on Tuesday is HORRIBLE but really if you watch it without being too crital it wasn’t even that bad. Everyone else has messed but no one gives them crap about it. I don’t understand why everyone thinks David Archuleta is so great. He’s messed up before! So what’s the big deal?! He went on with the song and did his best. I really admire Jason Castro. He is very talented and fun unlike most of the other contestant who take the show waaaaaaaay too seriously. He just did his best and had fun. And i totally agree with Wanda!
