‘American Idol’: Who’ll perform at the finale?

Fox is keeping a tight lid on details about tonight’s grand finale, except to say that the winning David will be announced. That leaves, oh, 1 hour and 59 minutes to kill. It seems pretty official that Carrie Underwood will sing. Jonas Brothers fans have also heard that they’ll perform, maybe with Underwood — but I can’t confirm. In fact, the most recent rumor, courtesy of E!, doesn’t even mention them. It does mention Underwood but boasts of a big scoop that the surprise guest will be George Michael. Wow, that should thrill the tweens in the mosh pit, especially if they’re expecting Nick, Joe and Kevin. “Producers,” E! adds, “may still be making last-minute plans.”

Ugh, don’t even mention those tweeners (mostly) in the “mosh pit”. They’re annonying as you-know-what.

Looking at the banner with photos of the former AI winnners, I’m reminded of those other contestants whose careers have eclipsed the viewers’ choices: Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson. I can barely remember last year’s winner’s name. So, regardless of which David wins tonight, it’s probably the other one whose talent will take him the farthest.

I couldn’t help but laugh last night when David A sang… 3 songs … all the same… ballads, ballads, & MORE ballads… yeah, like kids are really going to buy that crap!. David A & David C shouldn’t even be on the same stage.. Cook should get it hands down… but you’re right on them never picking the right one… so i expect the night to prove the same. why does anyone think that little goofy boy can sing.. Cook rocks, has TALENT and deserves the win… Simon was WAY out of line with his comments last night. Way out.

I agree with you Wanda. Cook is so much better; however, I wonder if he would be better off not winning. Then again, Carrie’s career took off. I don’t think Archuleta is all that great of a singer but those judges certainly picked their favorite from the beginning and stuck to it. A knock out? I don’t think so, not by a long shot. Even if Archuleta wins his father will ruin any and all chances he has. Cook will be a hit no matter if he wins of loses. And, what is up with Randy always telling Archuleta he could sing the phonebook. Time for a new line. Thank goodness this season is wrapping up. I can’t stand the judges anymore.

I think it would be to David C’s advantage not to be the winner tonight. The reason I say this, if he were to win then he would have to do what American Idol wants him to do, where if he would be the winner up he could do what he wants. Look at Daughtry, I don’t think he is upset with the outcome of his stint on American Idol.

WTF is going on here?? Donna Summer looks like she hit Old Country Buffet pretty hard in her retirement. And what is with the break dancers?? They were hot… 25 years ago.

My son said this show has jumped the shark!

Is anyone watching this show? This is positively awful. I haven’t seen drivel this lame since I caught The Baldknobbers show in Branson 30 years ago!

The trainwreck continues. Or how about “The Night of A Million Has-Beens”

Hey, George Michael, what happened to your beard and voice?? And… George Hamilton wants his sunglasses back when you’re through with them!

That’s all I got!
Thanks! Good night! Try the veal!
