Fox announces fall schedule

Like ABC, Fox is adding just two shows (one drama, one comedy) to its fall schedule. The drama is a biggie: “Fringe,” from J.J. Abrams, described as “a fantastical thriller (about an) unlikely trio who uncover a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and realize they may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern that blurs the line between science fiction and technology.” Got that? Joshua Jackson (”Dawson’s Creek”), John Noble and Anna Torv star.

The other Fox drama with big early buzz, “Dollhouse,” will hold for Janaury and pair with “24.” This is the new thriller from Joss Whedon (”Buffy,” “Firefly”) starring Eliza Dushku (”Tru Calling”). She’s Echo, “a member of an underground group of ‘Actives’ who have their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas to carry out a variety of missions. The Actives don’t just pretend to be new people – they become new people, yet they are never aware they are actually pawns in someone else’s game.”

Fox’s new fall comedy is “Do Not Disturb” (formerly called “The Inn”), with Jerry O’Connell and Niecy Nash running a posh hotel in New York. “Secret Millionaire,” a “heartwarming unscripted series,” arrives at midseason. The new animated comedy “Sit Down, Shut Up,” from “Arrested Development” creator Mitchell Hurwitz, will debut next spring.

Back to You,” “Canterbury’s Law” and “New Amsterdam” were canceled.
Fox’s week will look like this:

SUNDAY: “THE SIMPSONS,” “KING OF THE HILL,” “FAMILY GUY,” “AMERICAN DAD.”

MONDAY: “TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES,” “PRISON BREAK.”

TUESDAY: “HOUSE,” “FRINGE.”

WEDNESDAY: “BONES,” “TIL DEATH,” “DO NOT DISTURB.”

THURSDAY: “THE MOMENT OF TRUTH,” “KITCHEN NIGHTMARES.”

FRIDAY: “ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER?,” “DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS!”

SATURDAY: “COPS,” “AMERICA’S MOST WANTED.”

“Canterbury’s Law” and “New Amsterdam” were canceled
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Canterbury’s Law belonged on FX. Why they put it on Fox is beyond me.
New Amsterdam was the best new show on TV this season. Apparently too good and witty for American television viwers who would rather watch the current crud on network TV.
What happened to “Back to You”
In my perfect world, Fox would have saved “Back TO You” and cancelled “Til Death.” I hate “Til Death.” I don’t care for the characters at all, they are so full of themselves. And, Joelle Fisher, enough already with the boobs. Every show she has been in, she manages to have them exposed. No, I’m not envious, but I believe she thinks she is the only woman who has big boobs. Maybe the purpose is to try to distract the viewers from the bad acting and writing.
Sorry for the rant, but if we don’t get some sunshine ASAP, I’m gonna start finding fault with even chocolate….now that’s pretty bad, huh?
I am so perturbed that New Amsterdam (which I totally loved) and Canterbury’s Law will not be returning. I am really getting sick of all these show changes. They don’t even give them a chance before they cancel them. It is getting to where I may just stop watching shows until they have been on for a couple of seasons because otherwise just as you start getting in to them they go off the air!!
What a shame about New Amsterdam. The best new “network” show in awhile. How short-sighted by FOX. Oh well, back to “Saving Grace”, “Rescue Me”, “The Closer” and HBO and SHowtime
Well, I was going to say that I give Fringe two airings, until I saw its predecessor. I suppose that gives it more of a chance.
Overall, I’m fairly bored with this lineup. I think thw Writer’s strike made me more discriminating.
Fox is stupid to not renew “Back to you”. Finally they had a clever and funny sitcom and they screwed it up. Their lineup is terrible.
