Fox announces fall schedule
Gail Pennington

Like ABC, Fox is adding just two shows (one drama, one comedy) to its fall schedule. The drama is a biggie: “Fringe,” from J.J. Abrams, described as “a fantastical thriller (about an) unlikely trio who uncover a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and realize they may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern that blurs the line between science fiction and technology.” Got that? Joshua Jackson (”Dawson’s Creek”), John Noble and Anna Torv star.

The other Fox drama with big early buzz, “Dollhouse,” will hold for Janaury and pair with “24.” This is the new thriller from Joss Whedon (”Buffy,” “Firefly”) starring Eliza Dushku (”Tru Calling”). She’s Echo, “a member of an underground group of ‘Actives’ who have their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas to carry out a variety of missions. The Actives don’t just pretend to be new people – they become new people, yet they are never aware they are actually pawns in someone else’s game.”

Fox’s new fall comedy is “Do Not Disturb” (formerly called “The Inn”), with Jerry O’Connell and Niecy Nash running a posh hotel in New York. “Secret Millionaire,” a “heartwarming unscripted series,” arrives at midseason. The new animated comedy “Sit Down, Shut Up,” from “Arrested Development” creator Mitchell Hurwitz, will debut next spring.

Back to You,” “Canterbury’s Law” and “New Amsterdam” were canceled.
Fox’s week will look like this:

SUNDAY: “THE SIMPSONS,” “KING OF THE HILL,” “FAMILY GUY,” “AMERICAN DAD.”

MONDAY: “TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES,” “PRISON BREAK.”

TUESDAY: “HOUSE,” “FRINGE.”

WEDNESDAY: “BONES,” “TIL DEATH,” “DO NOT DISTURB.”

THURSDAY: “THE MOMENT OF TRUTH,” “KITCHEN NIGHTMARES.”

FRIDAY: “ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5th GRADER?,” “DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS!”

SATURDAY: “COPS,” “AMERICA’S MOST WANTED.”
