Jimmy Fallon replaces Conan

NBC has made it official that Jimmy Fallon of “SNL” will take over “Late Night” when Conan O’Brien replaces Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” next year. (Yes, 2009 is next year!) From NBC Entertainment president Ben Silverman: “Jimmy is more than just a likeable guy and a great comedian, he is genuinely interested in what people have to say.”

The right choice? I’m dubious. Then again, I’m hardly the young male demographic the late-night shows (and especially the late-late) are going for.

O’Brien had a slow start and was near cancellation his first year. Look what happened to him. I think time will tell for sure.

Yikes… that guy can’t make it through an SNL skit, how will he make it through a whole show?

Jimmy Fallon. Conan is the bigger gamble. He simply isn’t funny and he will bomb as a replacement for Leno.

I’ll never watch the Tonight Show again when Jay leaves. O’Brien cannot cut the mustard.

O’Brien…so annoying and not funny! Glad Jimmy is taking his spot. I won’t watch The Late Show when O’Brien steps in. I look forward to seeing Fallon.

I’m no so sure about Conan on the Tonight Show, but I am excited about Jimmy Fallon on the Late Night.

When Conan goes to “The Tonight Show” I will begin watching it regularly. I have not been a fan of Jay Leno and prefer Letterman by far. Leno leaving will only help NBC be the Light night leader they claim they are. But I do not think Letterman will have any trouble with Conan taking Leno\’s place. He might actually visit him there.

Jimmy Fallon is not funny. He can’t make it in the silver spoon fed SNL movie circuit. Why would he make it as a talk show host? Very poor judgement. Conan can be funny although recently he has been lagging greatly. It’s hard to believe they are going to let Leno go to another network. There is no way Conan can beat Leno in the ratings.
