what do u do with the dvd’s of the series that you get from channels like scifi and others….when we miss episodes they don’t rerun them and one misses a lot when we don’t see the first episodes….i collect them too btw and have some from many shows. They range from current shows to those ever since the early 1950’s

I saw a program tonight for the first time… “Fear Itself”. I am absolutely horrified that Channel 5 would broadcast such a program at 9:00pm in the evenings. This show is the equivalent to a movie that would be rated “R” in the theatres. I cannot believe this is allowed on prime-time programming on a public TV station to which any child would easily have access. I cannot imagine my child “accidentally” coming across this program while flipping through channels… at any age.

Yes, parents need to monitor their children’s TV, but it is too easy for kids to flip channels during a commercial on another channel. They should never be exposed to horrors such as I saw tonight. They would not be allowed into a theatre to see such images, why on earth would they want to broadcast these images into their homes without any way for parents to block them from seeing it? A parent should be able to trust their local public TV stations to broadcast quality programming, especially during primetime.

Granted, my four year-old would not be watching TV without me controlling what she watches (nor would she be up at 9pm watching TV), but if my child were 8 or 10 years old (or even 12 for that matter), I would expect horrible nightmares for months to come after seeing a show like this. There was more blood and gore and frightening “un-human” graphics in this program than I have ever seen on public TV.

This is absolutely not acceptable. If this were a horror movie edited for TV, it would have been more tame than what they showed tonight.
