‘Nashville Star’ disappointment

Didn’t you folks in Florissant vote? From all the local enthusiasm for the Krechel sisters of Pearl Heart, and considering how cute (and extremely talented) they are, it was a shock to see them eliminated Monday night  The judges thought so too — and wow, the frankness of those “Nashville Star” judges proves that not everything is nicey-nice in country music land. But as Billy Ray Cyrus summed up, the girls are young, and having spent a few weeks in this bright spotlight can only help their career.

I saw their last performance (unfortunately the only one that I saw…) and thought it was great! I’m SO sorry for these young ladies that they didn’t make it - but take him up on his offer of studio time and you could still be very well on your way to stardom! Great jobs ladies! Be persistent and you will go far!

“didn’t you folks in Florissant vote?”

How many people in florissant like country? I would guess the average person doesn’t. I would say that the vote would have been stronger from Florissant if it was a hip-hop contest.

I didn’t know this show existed until just now or I would have voted. Sorry about that.

Well, I think you are right about the hip-hop thing, if you havn’t looked around florissant in a while, its not exactly “country” and unfortunately the girl’s hometown wouldn’t be able to recognize their talent bc of this. It wasn’t a lack of talent that got them booted, it was a lack of hometown recognition, maybe if they were “Pearl-licious” they might be recognized. They should def. keep trying, I see a future for them nonetheless.

How can you not know these girls! They use to be called Me Too and have played at the Ferguson 4th of July Festival many times! It’s also discouraging to see comments about country vs hip hop based on where we live. Borderline racist

It wasn’t their performance last night that got them booted off - they were great last night! Unfortunately it was their previous week’s performance that put them squarely on the chopping block - it really wasn’t great.

Also…the STL media didn’t do much to help these girls out. It’s only been the last few days that they’ve had any coverage…they needed the help a week ago so people would have voted for them after their not-so-great performance last week.

Too bad for them…but it sounds like this exposure still might have been enough to launch their careers. Best of luck girls!

I DO know them…I am saying its UNFORTUNATE that they can’t be recognized more in and by their own hometown…all I am saying is that we should be more diverse as whole. It was a bit sarcastic, my previous comment…I can see how you would misunderstand it. For the record, I am saying I voted for them all the way and am dissapointed that they weren’t more recognized by their hometown.

I am from Florissant, and I am neither a country fan nor a hip hop fan. But I am sure there are people in Florissant who are country fans.

Actually, I don’t even think that’s the point here. It doesn’t matter what genre they play/sing; what matters is that the town supports the girls and their musical efforts. And it’s not like the show was on CMT; the show was on NBC.

Did anyone watch the KC rally around American Idol winner David Cook? I realize that AI is more popular than Nashville Star, but it’s still important for a town to support its inhabitants.

These girls will be successful - from what I hear, they have a great work ethic and are immensely talented. I don’t doubt they will make it big; this was their opportunity to get their foot in the door.

My final point: this is reality TV people. You never know the real story.

I have been a fan of Nashville Star since it started and until yesterday didn’t even know Pearl Heart was from Florrisant. It figures though, unless a story is about the Cardinals, AB or Highway 40, it won’t get much attention from the Post Dispatch. Much like Ballpark Village, this paper is an embarrassment to the city.
