TCA press tour: Ashton anon.
Ashton Kutcher, who’s clearly way more famous now than he was when we knew him on “That 70s Show,” is here for his new reality-game series, “Opportunity Knocks.” Nobody has many questions, because we haven’t seen the show, so I sit here studying his attempt at anonymity. It includes white sneakers, black pants, shirt and tie, and Red Sox cap pulled down low. Add sunglasses, as he surely does, and he’s nobody.
But wait: Now this session has taken an evil turn. The producers drag critics up on stage and force them to answer questions on topics snooped in advance from their own lives. Nobody put in this spot likes it, and I’ve see similar stunts backfire in a big way, but two people from Zap2It.com play along nicely. And one critic who’s clearly very uncomfortable is quickly excused. Then the demonstration is over and we’re sitting here again, trying to come up with questions.
Ashton, by the way, doesn’t think he’d be too good at answering questions about his own life — and wife, Demi Moore — because, among other things, he’s “terrible with dates.”
