TCA press tour: ‘Crash’ into Starz
Dennis Hopper and Don Cheadle tuned out for Starz, which will launch a series adaptation of the Oscar-winning movie “Crash” in October.
Hopper, last seen on TV in “E-Ring,” plays a maverick record producer and “crazy (bleep)” he compares to Phil Spector, with whom he shared an office for 10 years.
Cheadle, who starred in the movie “Crash,” is co-executive producer of the drama; Bobby Moresco, who co-wrote the movie with Paul Haggis, is executive producer. (Will Cheadle appear in the series? “That remains to be seen.”)
To get to “Crash,” we had to cut short a love fest with Ewan McGregor, who has a show for the Fox Reality Channel (still useen on Charter). In”Long Way Down,” the incredibly charming McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman (who previously rose motorcycles around the world in”Long Way Round”) ride from Scotland to South Africa to raise money for charity.
Fox Reality served shortbread cookies (a nod to McGregor’s heritage) cut into the shape of heaven knows what. Reindeer? Farm implement? Map of Scotland and/or South Africa? With the cookies eaten, only the bakers know for sure.
