TCA press tour: Who’s that guy from ‘Mars’?
Nobody has really seen ABC’s new fantasy-drama “Life on Mars,” except in the original British version. An adaptation by David E. Kelley was thrown out (some people saw a pirated copy of that online), and new executive producers started over. There’s nothing ready to screen. But I can tell you, based on the fact that he opened his mouth and spoke, that I’m crushing on the star, Jason O’Mara. He’s from Dublin and has that fabulous accent, although since he’ll play an American cop mysteriously transported back to 1973, he’ll probably be speaking American.
Where have we see him before? Turns out, he was Stuart on “Men in Trees” — anybody? I know you “Trees”-huggers are out there — and a character named Phillip Robinson on two episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy.” And of course he was in “Resident Evil: Extinction.” I’ll have to ask him if he sounded Irish in any of those.
And the guy with the long hair and beard, sitting next to him? That’s Michael Imperioli, his new co-star, who says he wanted something “completely different” after “The Sopranos.”
