Bush speech bumps prime time tonight (Wednesday)
Gail Pennington
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Just a warning: The Bush speech announced for 8 tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 24) will affect prime-time programming in various ways. The speech will last what the networks say is 17 minutes, so VCRs already programmed will be wrong, and DVR’s probably won’t get revised listings in time to record correctly. If you’re recording, I’d advise you to let everything run long by at least half an hour. However, NBC has a different plan. It will trim the Top 5 performance episode of “America’s Got Talent” by the length of the speech, while still including all five performances. Then “Lipstick Jungle” can start on schedule at 9 p.m. However, plans like this are fluid, so I’d still advise letting a recording run long. (With a DVR, if necessary, I always just record the following program. )
