Has Neal E. Boyd got ‘Talent’? Oh, yeah!
Congratulations, Neal E. Boyd! After an agonizing hour of filler and manufactured suspense Wednesday night, our guy Neal was announced as the $1 million winner of “America’s Got Talent.”
It came down to him and Eli Mattson, with just one-half of 1 percent separating the two in the voting; the closest result ever, host Jerry Springer said.
Neal cried, as he always does; his friends from Sikeston and St. Louis and even Mizzou were in the audience, cheering and hugging. The Las Vegas gig that’s part of the prize is Oct. 17; the $1 million isn’t as much as it sounds like, since it’s delivered as a 40-year annuity (just $25,000 a year?)
But hey, he’s the winner, and his hero Placido Domingo sent him a message of congratulations. So yay Neal!

neal, neal, neal… GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
Hi Neal, I do hope you read this. I just cannot wait for you to make an CD. I love listening to you, you have a voice like an angel and can hold your own with all the greatest opera singers. If Simon Cowell can do it for Il Divo who I think are supreme, he can certainly do it for you. You have such talent and grace, I wish you the best of everything and God Bless you and yours.
Neal, congratulations, I voted for you, and held my breath when it was between you and Eli. I cried along with you, so happy you won, justly deserving of #1. YOu sang “Ave Maria” at my friend’s funeral in St. Louis in July, and it was so beautiful, then met you later, and told you how wonderful it was. I know your mom is so very proud and I teared up also when you told her on the air how much you love her. To a mother, and I am one, there is nothing sweeter than to hear your child say they love you. Very anxious to get your CD and hope it’s soon. Wishing you a great career, and I will say “I knew him when”. You have such a unique voice and personality.
Best wishes,
Manch
Dear Neal,
Every time you sang you brought me to tears and gave me joy. If you ever have a concert in Wichita, I will be there to hear your glorious voice.
God be with you.
I knew Neal was the winner from the first note he sang. I can’t wait for his first CD. Many, many happy years of singing Neal.
A truly amazing young man…Congrats and much happiness in the years ahead!!!
