Nothing confirmed by ABC, but the Hollywood trade papers are widely reporting that ABC will drop “Eli Stone” and “Dirty Sexy Money” after the 13 episodes ordered this season run out. And it hurts me to report that “Pushing Daisies” is all-but-officially dead. Kristin dos Santos over at eonline.com reports that she talked to creator Bryan Fuller, who acknowledged getting the bad news from ABC. Read what Fuller had to say.

Just when I really get involved they yank the shows. Think I will go back to reading books.

I loved Daisys and DSM but I had been feeling a that the shine had worn off both shows lately. The whole premise of Daisys was feeling stagnant and DSM was just getting lame what with the whole storyline with is wife. It was better when it was about his dad being killed, etc. It lost its original darkness that made it interesting. I felt like it was just becoming another lame soap opera. At least Daisys lasted longer than a Wonderfalls. Which in my opinon was a much better show. I’d rather lose these two than Life or Life on Mars the latter having turned out to be one of the best shows I have seen in ages.

network tv is basically dead…other than reality shows and a few choice comedies, not many people hunker down in front of the tube anymore. Maybe I am in the minority, but the idea of watching shows on my pc and/or downloading episodes onto my ipod seems lame.

Technology has certainly given us lots of options, but I also feel it has contributed to the dumbing down of content (to some degree anyway) and has removed the SOCIAL aspect of watching TV/going to films/concerts.etc.

If you are someone who can’t keep your cake-hold shut for a two hour movie and/or feels compelled to text-message or-even worse-make or receive phone calls during movies/concerts/etc, then you are sick and need help (seriously–it’s a disorder). Speaking as someone who used to go to movies and live theater on a regular basis…technology’s co-enabling of rude behavior has made me stay home and pull the covers up over my head.

The writers strike killed all 3 of these shows. They lost their momentum and never really got it back. Its very sad because all 3 were among the most intelligent and most watchable shows on network television. I will miss them.

Hate to bring in another show on this blog, but, Gail, your tag line is “she watches bad TV so you don’t have to”. Well, I’ve watched horrible TV cause you didn’t warn us. I’m talking about the train wreck that is “Gray’s Anatomy”. This thing has jumped a shark the size of a sperm whale! Interns performing surgery on themselves, the ‘gayification’ of Dr. Hahn and then inexplicably canning her, and now the writers’ revenge upon Katherine Heigl. Izzy, you think last season sucked? You ain’t seen nothin yet.

Can Heroes be far behind? Hope so!

Sigh. At least Daisies and Stone are entertaining…even DSM is better than Grey’s and Private Practice now. Each of those shows has completely lost its way, which is what I predicted when Shonda Rhimes announced the spinoff.

But remember, this is the network that renewed According to Jim…

I am so sad to see that Eli Stone may not be renewed. This is one show that really makes you feel good. I look forward to Tuesday nights. There are so many ridiculous shows on TV and even more shows that you can’t watch with your kids without having to cover their eyes. I thought ABC had it right, but apparently they don’t see a good thing when they have it. I beg you to reconsider.

I don’t know why we even bother watching network TV. Every show I get attatched to ends up getting cancelled while they add another CSI or Law and Order. Eli Stone has lost some of its appeal by having them sing and dance less during his visions but DSM still has alot going on. Will we ever find out who killed Nick’s Dad? I am very frustrated with the networks right now.

Pushing Daisies is one of the smartest shows on TV. The fact that it is being cancelled just proves that this country is half full of morons.

What’s really sad about cancelling “Pushing Daisies” is that we lose that
marvelous imagery, with the set/scene design and color palette. It’s
just delightful to look at, no matter what the story (but having such
an imaginative story line is a plus).

I wondern if more people had HDTV if it would have had a larger
audience and thus higher ratings? I just have a smaller over-the-air
digital HDTV, and I find myself gazing at some scenes in PD in wonder.
I wish that I could record the digital signal so that I could see some
of the all-too-brief images over and over.
