7 shows that should be on your radar this week (April 27-May 3)
May sweeps are underway, but that doesn’t mean anything particularly special this week except new episodes of most series and a couple of season (if not series) finales. Watch them or ignore them, here are seven shows that should be on your radar this week.
‘Chuck,’ Season 2 finale
7 p.m. Monday on NBC
Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) faces a tumultuous wedding day as “Chuck” ends its second season, with chances for a third still very much in doubt. Of various campaigns to save “Chuck,” my favorite was constructed by the website Zachary-Levi.com, which asks fans to buy a footlong sandwich at Subway on Monday, the day of the finale, and leave a note in the suggestion box telling Subway (a sponsor) that you did it in support of “Chuck.” Then eat it during the season finale, which creator Josh Schwartz promises will be both awesome and game-changing.
‘Heroes,’ Season 4 finale
8 p.m. Monday on NBC
As the fourth “volume” of “Heroes” wraps up, it’s a good time to check back in, even if (like me) you’ve drifted away. NBC provided the episode for preview, and it’s exciting and in many ways satisfying. Just don’t worry too much about which hero has which powers at this point or which abilities have been absorbed by others; the addition of shape-shifting to time-jumping and mind-reading has, if possible, made the show even more confusing. Nevertheless, the brief introduction to Volume 5, shown at the end of the episode, at least offers hope in its title: “Redemption.”
‘Puppy Mills Exposed’
9 p.m. Monday on Animal Planet
A timely special, as puppy mill rescue pups go up for adoption in St. Louis, focuses on horrific conditions at breeding facilities in Pennsylvania. Keep tissues handy.
‘Lost,’ 100th episode
8 p.m. Wednesday on ABC
I’ve seen only clips from the 100th episode, “The Variable,” which finds Daniel Faraday arriving back by sub and spilling his guts about the island. Miss it? No chance.
‘Criminal Minds’
9 p.m. Wednesday on CBS
Did “Moonlight” fans love Alex O’Loughlin, or did they love tortured vampire Mick St. John? What I’m getting at is whether the “Moonlight” faithful will be eager to accept O’Loughlin on another show, especially one on CBS. A minor test comes Wednesday night when he guests on “Criminal Minds.”
‘Ugly Betty’ returns
7 p.m. Thursday on ABC
With “In the Motherhood” and “Samantha Who?” prematurely pulled from ABC’s schedule, “Betty” returns — and she has good news. The comedy has already been picked up for next season.
‘Living Out Loud’
8 p.m. Saturday on Hallmark
In a new movie, Gail O’Grady stars as a high school music teacher who finds new enthusiasm for life after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Of course the Moonlight fans are backing this show. It’s really Alex we love. We’ve seen seen the recent video clips and can’t wait to see it! Alex is a very talented actor and this is a wonderful chance for others to see him now.
We’ll accept Alex O’Loughlin in any role on any channel because he is a great actor and pretty nice on the eyes. They don’t call us rabid fans for nothing. We’ll be Alex fans forever.
When I saw the promo of Alex coming on Criminal Minds the other night my jaw dropped! To go from the perpetually cool Mick St. John on Moonlight to Vincent the geeky, creepy OCD weirdo with the click click tic who’s a serial killer… Talk about acting range! I’ve been watching Criminal Minds since the beginning and this is the first time I’ve ever seen them promote the one playing the serial killer. This is going to be a thrill ride for sure!
Chuck deserves another season…It remains one of the more entertaining shows each week and has been totally messed up by a network putting it up against HOUSE and Big Bang Theory. Move it to a night where it has a chance and watch what happens.
I was a HUGE fan of Moonlight. That said, it was Alex’s perfomance as Mick St. John that drew us in. Ales is such an incredibly talent actor. He has earned my respect and loyalty. I will follow his career where ever it takes him. And there is ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that hhis star is bound for the stratospheres. And I will be along for the ride!!!!!!!!!!!
Must see TV-Parks And Recreation on NBC.Lets see how many times the young blond on the show could said penis in a half hour episiod.
oh man, P&R is awful. not as bad as “sit down, shut up”, but probably one of the worst shows i’ve seen in a while. but yeah that puppy mill thing sounds like a real downer. i don’t think i’ll be tuning in for that one!
Alex O’Loughlin is an excellent actor, he will be amazing playing the serial killer Vincent on Criminal Minds next Wednesday, we “die hard vampire fans” will be there to support and follow his career!Go Alex!
Moonlight fan? Check. ALEX fan? Double check.
Any Moonlight fan worth their salt is going to be watching Criminal Minds to support Alex - the ones that don’t shouldn’t call themselves Alex fans. His portrayal of Mick St. John pulled us in, his incredible talent will keep us tuning in, no matter what his endeavor. Alex has nowhere to go but up and I’m going to be there every step of the way.
I’m also a huge “Chuck” fan, so I’ve got my fingers crossed they bring it back for a third season!
Loved Alex on “Moonlight”, and I will be watching him on “Criminal Minds.” However, I’ll be watching the recorded version because “Lost” comes first.
